I've tried Forever black before and was somewhat pleased. The trim and bumpers of my wifes jeep really look crappy. She had told me when it was new that the bumpers were black, but I think they were more like grey. I had tried forever black on them many, many months ago and like I said I was somewhat pleased. They are back to looking crappy again. Any suggestions? I guess if I have no choice I will try going over everything with it again. Thanks

Search on Autpia, but believe it or not people are using certain Shoe Polishes with better results then stuff you can bye. I did a little spot on my rear bumper to test, even with all the rain the last month or two it still looks the same, just trying to find one that matches better with an off grey type rear bumper (Moutaineers generally have rear bumpers matched to the color of the body cladding). I've tried other stuff including PB Trim Restorer and nothing works well on my color, I can't get TR to last more then a couple days.

But that's just my case lol. Maybe something like Trim Restorer will work well for you, but I thought Forever Black was basically the longest lasting?

I hate talking about products AG doesn't sell that aren't an otc, so I won't mention it!
I have found one that has blown everything else outta the water. Brought back to life soem serious oxidized and old plastic and trim exterior pieces, after trying tons of other products. And it contains no dyes.

Well... will you PM it to me? I've been using Megs rubber and vinyl and it doesn't last very long.

Come on, this forum is for us to all learn. we all love AG, but thye can't provide us with everything! Just almost everything :D

pm me too then i need it for the wrnagler

I don't imagine there being a problem discussing products that AG at this time doesn't carry. The forums are about discussion. Now it would be disrespectful to brag about other Car Care suppliers or complaining about AG. If you know somthing that works (No matter what it is) I would imagine even the men and women of Autogeek would want you to share. I could be wrong although I don't think so.

Just to clairify I'm looking for a dye/stain type of product. I'm looking to give gloss and shine, but to make the finish black again.
Thanks Peeps.

When I took this picture I had it the trim and bumpers and TR, but you can see the fading. Believe me it doesn't look that good anymore. When I detail her it stands out like a sore thumb.

Sorry. Not trying to play a game here. I just think its kinda rude to post another companies product on this forum in the sense this came up. AG weened me on detailing and I give them 95% of my business, the rest is mostly trading and from one factory direct company...That's all I'll say.
AG is my home and like the old saying...you don't crap where you sleep! Or was it where you eat?

EWWWWWWWWW! I don't know which one it is but both are pretty gross!:p

I understand what he's saying, but what I don't understand is how its going to take somthing that almost faded grey and make it black?

OHHHHH! You wanna change the actual color? I must have missed that! If it was orginally black and now has turned grey due to age, elements, etc, then yes, I would lay decent odds that this will help bring it back to within 80% easily and with a decent longeveity. But, if it is actually greay and you want to change the color to black, then nope.

theres not a problem with offering a product, it is linking that is the real issue. We have agreed to allow other products to be talked about within reason (no slander) but absolutely no links. Now if I find out your a shill, then Im gonna ban you for life. (OFF SOAP BOX)

The product Scooter is most likely talking about is V.R.T. It has a good following, but is a beta product. Meaning that some other lines offer it but can modify it to their tastes with different attributes like color, smell, gloss factors and more to differnciate it from the original beta design.

Let me also note in advance .... we will not get into conversations on Private labeling, who does what, why, as we are not judge, jury, or executioner ! If you like it, use it, if you dont like it, dont use it !!!

What is V.R.T?
What Scooter is talking about isn't that to my knowledge.

its a product from Chemical Guys, and also Adams Polishes.

I love the word shill!
Ok, then it's the Extreme Liquid Shine, not VRT. I'll go ahead and post my views on it...I did an Avalanche and its bed cover had been replaced twice by the dealer, as it kept fading and oxidizing beyond belief, the dealer finally told him no more replacing it. I woudl say if new, it would be 100%, this was looking at 30% I tried the usuals on it and they just had no effect, just made it maybe 2-5% better. I gave up. A few weeks later I tried a couple CG products (for the record, most of their items are of good quality, but so-so compared to others, make sense?) just to try out. The Extreme Liquid Shine was working good on my ride, and really livened up my trim. Before I go any farther, I knwo some have concern about...yes, it is oily and messy to apply, but not greasy. Anyway, I took some to his house and said let me try this new stuff. He parks outside 24/7 and it was high 80's this day. First coat, I could see it was making an affect, but still looked bad and just soaked right in. I applied three coats and with each, it kept getting better and better! When I was finished it looked at 98% new! Wow, big improvement. I told him most likely it would wear or run off. Well the next week, heavy rains with tornados all around our area. I looked and to my disbelief it was still on and looking around 95%!!! Last time I saw it was close to a month after application at it was still looking close to 90%, now its been maybe 6 weeks and he says it still looks great. It must literally soak in and bond or nourish the vniyl, I have no clue but it works. For bad wear, yoru gonna have to rub and rub hard whiel using a few coats. It made an original dark grey that had turned to ligh whiteish grey turn back to as close ot new as you could get. And i htink holding strong at a month is great for any product subjected ot the elements in this category. If I had the resources, I would certainly try this before a dye. I wish I had a gallon of it so I could send you all samples, but i don't. A little goes along way.
So I now use it all the time. When I do my Durango, I only do one app of it as I wash and redo my ride a few times a week. Over the past month doing alight coat of this, I can see it gradually restoring my trim to a newer state as more and more is soaking in or doign whatever.
This product feels like an oil, is crsytal clear, and smells like cinnamon. Easily washes off from your hands, but I wouldn't use a good MF with it, as it penetrates and seems to stay. I use and old towel around 4x4" a few drops, do a few pieces of trim, then soak the piece of cloth good and that is usually good enough for the entire car, using maybe 1/4 oz of product at most.
Believe what you want, but this is one of those "BAM" type products for me.
