Eagle One Surface Prep Mitt...Amazing

SM Arnold I believe owns the patent. So they manufacture it for multiple different companies to their specifications and price points.

If this is the case then wouldn't their idea be "farmed out" to Nanoskin?

I find traditional Clay is still warranted in my box of tools because sometimes there are nooks and crannies that the mitt doesn't get into well enough. But yea 90% of the time I use my Nanoskin Mitt.

Just ordered online for store pick up. I have a T-bird coming in this weekend (hopefully) and am looking forward to trying out the mitt. I couldnt see spending $60 on one but $20 sure seems like a good price right now.

The rumor on the street is nanoskin makes the Eagle One mitt as well. I read that someone spoke to nanoskin at a marketing event and they were talking about how expensive it was and the nanoskin guy replied saying they are going to be making the product for other brands at a cheaper price, but could not say who it would be for. I did read that the Eagle One's skin layer was thinner though, but I don't know how that affects performance/durability.

I actually saw this at AA a few weeks ago. The price got my attention compared to my nanoskin mitt. Then I looked close and you can see the fabric through the rubberized material so maybe half as thick as mentioned above. And in the OP pic, I see the rubberized material only goes about 2/3 down the mitt unlike the full mitt on nanoskin.

I'm going to guess about half the quality at about half the price making it a wash in the long run as it will probably only last half as long. Time will tell I guess, given the E1 item seems to be fairly new to the market.

Probably right. Lots of companies invent technology or products then license the technology to others for royalties. Great way to spend your life on a golf course and get a weekly paycheck.

So I picked up an Eagle One surface prep mitt at Advance Auto a few weeks back to try out. Well I finally got the chance this morning. It has been so hot and sunny I haven't wanted to do it, but today there was a slight chill in the air and it was overcast, perfect to do it. I washed the car with the traditional 2BM then while it was still wet grabbed my UWW+ and went to town. I saturated a panel as I wiped just like with clay, it was as easy as washing the car, no folding, kneading, etc. Then I re-washed and dried with UWW+ as a drying aid.

The result: It worked amazing! I just am in shock how much easier this is than clay. The car which felt so gritty before now is as smooth as silk. I knew it was going to be good when I first started on a window that had paint over spray and it lifted it right off in a pass or two. In fact right away I noticed that when I put my UWW+ bottle on my sunroof which had a slight decline to it the bottle just slid off and I had to catch it before it fell off the car where before it would have stayed planted. I'm blown away by how great the result was for 20 bucks, I'm throwing all my clay away. It took about a third as long to surface prep the car as it does to wash it, I would have been there forever with clay and probably dropped it, never again! Pictures aren't really needed b/c you can't tell the difference when preping but I'll include one just to show what it was on, a rather large SUV, this was a Godsend for cutting the time on a vehicle like this. I would have to say this is one of the best OTC products you can buy locally:

i just got one for 5 bucks at advance auto

I got 4 of them and 4 of the meguiars headlight restoration kits (mainly for the spray sealant in it) for 54 dollars....thanks for the heads up on the mitts they work very well

Just picked up the last two at AA for $5.45 each. Worth a try. Have always used clay and never wanted to spend the big bucks for the nanoskin.

In addition to the two mitts I got, I also picked up a headlight kit just for the sealant. Have you used it on like-new lenses? Is it like a clear coat spray paint? Or is it more like a polymer sealer? Just wondered if it has the potential to chip like paint as it ages.

be careful with it, i went a little to hard with it and it marred the s h i t out of my paint. i wish i would have had the nanoskin or even used regular clay. im not going to use it again ill get the good one or just regular clay

I have had the fine Speedy Prep towel for 5 years.

I only use it on my DD, so maybe 12 times.

Was fairly costly back then, but had little experience with clay, so ignorance is bliss.

Have not used clay since and no marring with lots of lube.

For my DD this would have done the job no problem.

Did get mine for 25 but with car soap after a wash, this would make decontamination so quick

Thats how i have been doing it this past summer i have a bucket of hyperwash and use it for lubrication then a clean bucket for rinsing it after each panel then spray off the car with the water hose. A lot faster than using a spray detailer for lube. The rinse bucket may be a little excessive but those contaminants get stuck to the mitt and i think that could also cause more marring just my opinion.

The ones I got have no indication on the packaging whether it's a fine, medium, or aggressive. Or is there just one type available?

Just purchased one at AA in DE - paid $7.49, but there's no sales tax there. I would have purchased the two they had, but the second one did not look like the coating was as uniform. I have never seen any of the competitor's products for comparison, but I'm not overly impressed by the quality of the Eagle1. However, the price was right!

I'm on my second one now, and I think they are great for the price. Even more so now that they are being discounted. Maybe the coating is not as thick as the more pricey ones, but it's probably the same tech.

Use lots of lube and little to no pressure and just glide it across the surface. Yes it can cause marring, but so can the other clay alternatives and also traditional clay. It's a mildly abrasive product that may need to followed up by a light polishing.
