Earthquake!

I felt it in Erie Pa. Was sitting in my chair relaxing and felt chair shake twice. I thought it was the wife messing with me.

I felt it at work, Huntington WV, had no idea what it was.

I didn't know what the heck was going on. The building started to sway and rock back and forth. It lasted a little over 10 seconds where I was, about 50miles from the town or Mineral where it developed. Friends wife was home and they are in the town of Louisa, VA about 1.5 miles from the epicenter. I hear that some roofs fell in and his budy said the Mineral post office collapsed. Hope no one was inside the build. Crazy stuff for us VA folks.

I felt it today near Pittsburgh, PA. I was in a meeting at the time when the conference room started to feel like it was swaying.

So is this the first time any of you have felt an earthquake? Im curious because you're on the east coast and they dont exactly happen often there.

I have family in Pittsburgh, PA they said they didnt feel a thing. Funny how some notice it some dont.

In MD where I was I dont typically feel the little tremors that we rarely get. I felt this, but it was no tremor here. Ceiling and was shook, windows rattled. Probably not much for you CA folk, but its a big deal here. We were preparing for a hurricane, not a freaking earthquake!

First time for me.

I was in CA about 2 years ago, day after I left there was a 5. something, I was pissed I missed it. Now I hope I never feel another!

That was crazy..I felt it in my office..I was sitting at my desk then next thing I know the building was shaking back and forth and my chair was moving and my monitor on my desk was moving around..they had everyone leave the building for a bit. I am clear over in pittsburgh

About 10 seconds of shaking in my office near Baltimore, MD. Weird feeling.... Our Corporate Headquarters in PA evacuated, but not my office...

felt it pretty good in my office building in downtown philly

I was also in a meeting in downtown PGH. The building definitely moved for a little bit.

Not east coast but I felt it in Detroit I think. I was at work and my chair felt like it was swaying. I turned around twice because I thought someone was behind me shaking my chair.

Ocean City MD - I was about to live the 3rd floor condo when the whole building start moving ... maybe 5 sec. I've never seen the walls moving before

I was stationed in California (Fort Irwin near Barstow) and went through Two of them. The one in Big Bear was the worst. I thought my wife was shaking me to get out of bed. I am always up before her, so I open my eyes to see her standing in the doorway holding on, I only started to move after the dresser mirror fell on the bed. Wife said I never moved that fast since then, LOL. Also finally got me to attach the mirror to the dresser that week.

York, Pa. (Central Pa. just below Harrisburg). Only saw it shake the window shades and bookshelf some. My daughter said I was halucinating when I told her it was a quake. Then the news made her eat her words.

It shook our 10 story building pretty good, just a bit west of DC. Its crazy to think about how much energy it takes to shake everything on the east coast.

felt it in Fredericton ,New Brunswick, Canada. some of taller buildings evacuated just to be safe . was not very strong here but it did cause cabinet doors to open and sway buildings slightly.

I live in D.C., and we felt it pretty good. I was sanding my wood floor when it hit and shook my house for about 10 seconds; my home felt it was swaying SIDEWAYS! I thought for a moment that it would collapse, but fortunately it held up until the quake stopped. At first I didn't know what had happened; when does the east coast have an earthquake? When I went outside, everyone in the neighborhood had run out of their homes onto the street. After we found no one was hurt or serious damage done, we had a good laugh. Man, who would believe it! The reason I didn't want to live on the west coast was because of earthquakes; now I guess it doesn't make too much difference, if your number is up, it's up no matter where you are.

The park rangers' report on the damage at our National Monuments included:

1. A surprise visit from former DC mayor Marion Barry. When questioned by the rangers for the reason for his appearance he replied that he was looking for the crack that was supposed to be in the Washington Monument.

2. That they found Madonna lying spread-eagle at the base of the Washington Monument, waiting for its inevitable fall.

:D
