Skip all of the foam & MF applicators and use a flag-tipped brush.
Sound advice. Just brush a light coating of product on the textured surface and have it over with.

It’s not the flavor of the month so people seem to forget about it. But using OptiBond tire gel at 1:1 and the spray gun attachment would be the way to go.
