Hey guys,

I've seen some posts about people using marquees and similar for shade during summer, but as I work out of the back of my daily driver car (Holden Calais 4dr sedan, similar to the new Chevy SS in the states) I don't have much room for such large equipment, that and I work alone so it takes me a while to get them up by myself.

So my question is, what other methods do you guys use for shade in summer? It's going to be 42c tomorrow (108f), and the guy doesn't have a garage or carport. I'm hoping there's a tree or something around, but as I only booked it in today I haven't had time to check.

Cheers guys,

James

Tall buildings would work. Or a coin-op car wash.

Just gotta be creative. Ive used shadows of my house and random buildings but you could find a semi private lot with some shade possibly

Yeah but he's Down Under. In Australia the sun seems impossibly high in the sky, as if it's north of you.

;)

You could always try some sort of canopy to shade yourself.

I'm jealous of your temperature. Its going to be 30°F here tomorrow then single digits in a few days.

I've often looked at the EZ-Up 10x10 and its ilk. How often do you have to move it around to shade an entire standard sedan? I think a 15x10 would suit me better for my own driveway, but would be a bear for mobile ops. Maybe I'll get a 10x10 for headlamp restos on the go.

Oh, and Happy New Year, James! Cats fan? Hoping to see a game at Simonds some time next winter. I think my Lions are due for a visit (have to check the fixture). I'm in Brissie for the opener v Pies on 4 April.

So hot today! I'm actually a pies fan myself! Mum comes from Collingwood, and I'd be disowned if i didn't follow them :P

But back on topic, I might check out an EZ-up. I have a big shade dome I put up if I have a large job from home (no garage at my house either), but no way I'd be able to put it up myself.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

James
