eBay Clay?

I'm extremely interested in how it works. If it works well and doesn't cause marring, win. Otherwise it's probably not worth it. Take some pictures if you can! I always feel stingy because it pains me to throw away clay and such even though it needs to be done.

I'm also curious about the aggressive-ness of this clay.

Can I post a review here? I don't want to break any rules....

I'm planning on giving a review with pics and vid.

im curious how it works also, mainly wondering if there is a difference between the blue ebay clay and the beige ebay clay. my best guess is the blue is fine grade and the beige is medium/heavy grade....slickooz post the review on autopia(ag's sister forum) as there rules are different reguarding talk of products not purchased from pbmg..best idea so you can stay "legal".....

I am still waiting for an activation email also. Registered yesterday.

You'd be welcome to post your review at Live2Detail. We are the only detailing forum that is not owned by either a company or a sponsor. You'll see a lot of familar names if you do.

Thanks Rich, I just joined waiting for activation. :props:

Great, Gary. I'm glad you did. We are not in competition with AG at all. It's a different kind of place. Not to mention I can let my humour run wild over there, and that's fun!!

How is Dana doing Richy? Tell him Flash says Hi, would yah ;)

I don't mean to crash this thread, but felt I should speak up. Clay is all over the world, but detailing clay is not clay so to speak. To my knowledge, it is man-made from polybutene (a plastic resin) and abrasives, such as silica and ceramics, giving it a clay-like appearance and feel. All US-made detailing clay is covered by a patent, which, I assume, contributes to some of the cost.

All that being said, I have heard plenty of stories of improperly made clay bars (from places like ebay) causing significant marring or worse. I hope this isn't the case and you guys have found a great and affordable product. Just keep it in mind and always test in an inconspicuous area first. Personally, I'll be sticking to name brands.

It's all good man your not crashing anything but the Chinese and Japanese were using detailing clay way before the U.S. was so I'd imagine there clay technology would be better just like pretty much everything else there is far ahead of us. Don't get me wrong I know there's poorly built cheap products over there but detailing clay seems like something they might have understood better and been able make cheaper than us.

All I'm saying is that if this clay works as good as the people here that have tried it say it does then there's a lot of people wasting money on an over priced similar name brand product. That's fine if that's ok with you or other people but if your running a business like me it's not a smart move. I go through a good bit of clay. I'll still use the name brand clay for the very nice cars but for the average cars(as long as there was no marring), glass and really grimey area's like exhaust I would use the cheap stuff. Which now that I think about it would make sense for people to just use the name brand stuff for paint and use the cheap stuff for surfaces that really don't show marring as easily like glass, exhaust, wheels, metal, etc. There's nothing more disappointing then seeing your $30 clay bar covered in little rocks and completely black. Plus people drop clay which your supposed to then throw away and I wouldnt mind losing $5 but $20-30? Well that would just suck lol.

Yes you do! Someone needs to moderate you!

Just received my ebay clay bar system, $5.45 Blue. Heard about some homemade clay lubricate, anybody want to share?

Hi everyone, I'm subscribing to this thread.

I just purchased 400g of Easy Clay from Amazon, and once I use it I'll let everyone know how it compares to the high-end Pinnacle Poly Clay I have been using for a year or two. If anyone has used "Easy Clay" from Amazon or elsewhere, please let me know your thoughts.

One thing I'm unsure about, is whether or not the colors on the Easy Clay mean anything? They make yellow, blue, and red... which mean varying levels of 'aggressiveness' with other companies, but the product pages didn't mention anything about softness, or mildness, so maybe they just dyed the clay different colors for no reason other than marketing and association?

Lastly, what's the consensus on Ebay clay? I got clay for a very good price on Amazon, but Ebay is even cheaper... so I'm just wondering for when I refresh my supply, thanks :)
