eBay for detailing products?

There is a trade thread here on this very site, should probably post in that thread.

I've made the suggestions many times to have a dedicated forum tab for the Trade and pleaded to have a Buy/Sell place but neither have materialize. To be 100% honest, and it may be the opinion of many others but the thread is a pain to read and follow. I've looked through it a couple of times but I spent more time trying to figure if a product was still available or not because there is no follow up (and people fail to go back to the thread for feedback on the transaction). So although you have a very valid suggestion, I would rather take a wild gamble on eBay over trying to figure or follow that thread!

AG has very valid reasons for not allowing that, as I'm sure you understand.

ABSOLUTELY!!! There is a level of liability (real and impact related) associated with allowing that type of traffic on its boards. By allowing an unsupervised transaction is "enabling" and if a transaction goes South, they have the liability of a lost customer ranting about how he got taken "on AGO" etc... We don't need our beloved forum to be tarnished by some stupid fool trying to defraud one of our fellow geeker.

I've thought about a system where you would need a certain # of post to be allowed to sell (and an agreement to verify their actual location, in case of dispute), but you can easily speed through 1000s of postings in a very short amount of time (not to pick on my buddy Art).

I don't have an answer and don't propose to have an answer or a set of suggestions that could work. I was just inquiring for other's experiences with eBay (or alternate ways of making sure my excess don't end up in the trash).

Well, I tried eBay and it went unsold. I actually selected the Pinnacle Souveran which I though would be a sought after product. A bunch of lurker and a few followers but no-go. You live and learn I guess.

I've learned with eBay. Start the bidding low. Once someone bites. It invites others. Not a scientific study but. Just something I noticed.
