I just tried out my new edge pads out today. The thing is if I put hardly any pressure at all on the PC the pad just quits spinning. I saw the post about the pad possibly hitting the PC so I put some washers on and no change. I would figure it should still spin well on speed 6 but it doesnt. Now when I say put some pressure on it, im talking not even 10lbs. Maybe Im just clueless or something but kinda pissed that I bought this new edge setup and it hardly performs right. If anyone has any suggestions or insight it would be great.

By the way this is my first post. So hello all.

Thanks
Chuck

WELCOME....... THE P.C. doesnt spin..it's an orbitor, it orbits around an axis.......rotarys spin......;)

When I use a 4"...5" or 5.5' pad..I get rotation...I have a red dot on my backing plate...and when its running I see the dot rotating at lower speeds..once i go 5 or 6 its a solid blur going around ....even though it does a random orbit it still rotates...look at budman3's video..he has rotation also...but way less than I have since he uses a larger pad....

YES ! I never noticed it on mine......THANKS.......;) I manly use the rotary.............

Welcome to the board!

I've no experience with the Edge pads but I've thought about buying them. I know many people on this forum use and love them so hopefully you will get some answers quickly.

Bill I use the rotary also for 95% of the work..but I use the PC on the door pillars...around the door handles...and other tight or small places....I got to close one to the antenna mount with the rotary once...and I bumped it....It left a burn mark on it...lol....so I now keep a distance from parts like that....My eyes and steadiness are not like they were 20 years ago...I hope in a few years the come out with a product that you spray on and it does it all....swirl removal and seal ..LOL....spray it on and relax after...

I had the same problem with the 6" edge pads. Changed the counter weight to (6" pads only) and it did help a little. Bought some 6" ccs pads and they rotate like it should. Also, the 5.5" LC pads rotates even more. Needless to say, my edge pads are in a box. If it doesn't rotate, I'm not using them.

I have the same problem, it seems like they just arent spinning.... I dont think they are making enough heat just orbiting and I dont think im really getting the full potential. I might just order me up some CCS pads to try em and see what the craze is.

Well I and other memebers here have been discussing this for quite some time now and here is what I have found out. With 6.5inch pads the PC seems to have the problem that you and many others have incountered, the spinning question. Just becuse it's not spinning dosen't mean that it's not working...well I learned that. I switched to 5 inch pads and the PC did okay, I like 5inch pads too even with the rotary. I find that with the 5inch pads and the rotary you get more control, less hop, less chance of loosing control....so all I use now is 5inch pads.

well just my feed back oh and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy it.

Man, now Im considering returning my Edge kit and getting the CCS pads instead.

Does anyone know the difference in weight between the Edge and CCS pads?

man i love the edge pads...less vibration also...and the blue one is awesome for rotary

I have to say, I am starting to worry about the order I just placed... PC with Edge pads package. This is starting to become a recurring theme...

My Edge pads rotate but only a little, and that goes for all 6" pads from other manufacturers, the PC orbits more then it rotates. Personally I love the Edge pads and they work perfect for me, it could be the size of the pads being double sided, but either way I've never had trouble with them hitting the PC or brekaing down polishes/compounds.

:iagree: with Surfer. My experience is the same.

I too agree with Surfer, it's really not a big deal about the pads not spinning. If you want them to spin step up to the rotary, I use the Edge pads on PC (when I had my PC) now I use them on my rotary and the Edge pads work good. Like I said just becuase the pads aren't spinning dosent mean it's not working properly...well I have never had any problems with the PC execpt that I too was curious bout the spinning affect. When I used the PC I expected the pads to spin but that's not the PC, if you want spinning action get a rotary....well at least that's whta I have learned.

Oh and this is just my opinion/experiance only.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE EDGE PADS WERE REALLY MADE AT FIRST JUST FOR THE ROTARY...........IM THINKING THEY WERE NOT REALLY A P.C. PAD, TO THICK AND NOT GETTING HOT ENOUGH FOR BREAKDOWN, ALTHOUGH THEY DO WORK ON THE P.C FOR SOME, I WASN'T HAPPY WITH THEM ON MY P.C...... I USE THE REG LAKE COUNTRY FLATS FOR MY P.C .ONLY;) EDGE FOR ROTARYS....

Bill,I think the E2K 6" pads where designed to be used with a PC as the DA pads are made to cut at lower speeds, when used on a rotory i would keep the speed to a min ..

if i'm wrong please feel free to chime inn..

YOU'R PROBALY RIGHT.I do notice i have to keep the speed down when i use the edge 2k's on my rotarys because of fast cutting...;)

Edge makes better foam for slower defect removal than LC. They take more out at lower speeds than LC, research autopia and you'll see that time and time again. The edge foam is 10x nicer than LC. I sold about 30 LC pads and replaced with 12 edge and couldn't be happier. Much less vibration and better defect removal for me.
