What would everyone think about EDGE(or other foam pad maker) making a high quality one piece foam dressing/gel applicator that doesn't have glue to come apart, the foam doesn't deteriorate quickly, easy to use, easy to clean, etc.? Would everyone buy it? Their foam pads seems to be very high quality which is why I suggested their name and they seem to be developing new products. Thoughts?

I think there is a definite need for a better tire dressing applicator.

The Eagle One tire swipes used to be very good, but it seems they have changed the foam in the last year or two and they are now much more messy and not as durable.

The Pinnacle applicator is decent. I like that I can squish it to conform better to the size and shape of the tire. However, after a few uses that gets pretty messy too.

The SM Arnold applicator has some great features. I like the hard plastic backing which keeps my hands clean and the plastic cover which keeps excess dressing away from my shelving. However, the foam is too soft for my taste and compresses too easily. So, I find that I tear up the applicator quickly.

One thing I would like to see in a new applicator is a size for low profile tires. It seems most applicators are designed for use on trucks or sedans. Most applicators are too big to be effective on the low profile tires of a sports car.

This is a cracking idea i've not found a tire dressing applicator that i like yet, so i'd buy at least 0ne

awesome....glad I thought of it:D lol

I have been looking for one also, as said above all i have seen are too big for my sport tires, so i have been useing a foam paint brush it works ok...but still messy....

That is indeed a product that has been overlooked. I bought a couple a few years back from....somewhere (can't remember) and they've long since fallen apart & come unglued. I'm going to WallyMart tomorrow and scrounge the housewares section for something that might work. Go for it Edge, I'll buy one, and if it works well, then several more.

i prefer sponges over foam applicators.... been using them for years, i just havent had any good foam ones that last long enough to justify the cost

That would be something I would definitely buy, I always run into that problems with applicators. Can't wait.

I would love to see one similar to those dish cleaning sponges that have a handle filled with soap.

It would have a plastic handle which you could fill with tire gel or rubber protectant. At the business end it would have a foam applicator which is replaceable and curved to match the sidewall. The foam applicator could come in different sizes for different tires (truck, passenger, low profile). The handle would feed the applicator and there would be a cap to cover the applicator when it's not in use.

This is my ideal tire dressing applicator.

Sounds like the old liquid shoeshine bottles with the foam applicator on top and a cap to cover the foam when you're done. Nice idea for applying dressing. The same type of bottles are used for touch-up paint in the homes. You can probably pick up a bottle this at a craft store. I may have to give this a try.

nice idea .... and since our forum was the 1st to design it, I think Edge should allow us all to be the beta testers !!!

I've seen various tools similar to the one I describe for dishwashing, painting, etc. but the applicator tip always seemed less than ideal for tire application.
