I decided to do side by side comparison Shmitt VS Ulti Mitt.
I finally got the new Shmitt from Aaron (thanks again). It's a little different, it has a little rope going through it.

Here is the Ulti Mitt:

Both mitts are good usefull washing tools, but the main reason I prefer the Shmitt is you have less chances of marring the paint.

Dirt and debris can be captured and rerealeased. And it take you forever to rinse them out

With Shmitt you will love have this problem

I would not use Ulti Mitt or really dirty paint, as your chances will increase of marring the paint.

This is the way I wash

Although I have large hand, Ulti-Mitt still feels loose. Shmitt has a tight fit, but I just like holding it in my hand. With that little rope, I feel more confident
about not dropping it; but even if I do, it will take only 3 seconds rinsing it, where it will take at least 3 minutes rinsing an Ulti-Mitt.

This is my little review, just my $0.02.

Comments, questions, and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the head to head SC!

I really love reading head to head comps, I get more out of a comparison than just a regular review..I hope to do a few more "head to heads" in the coming weeks.

Thanks again!

I will post some pics later of the durability of how many washes you can get from each... then u decide!

Thanks for the review. I have both mitts. I’m actually on my second Shmitt right now. The first one lasted well over 100 vehicles before the back separated too much to use effectively. I got my second Shmitt as the Ulti-Mitt came out. I haven’t picked up the Shmitt since.

I am convinced the Ulti-Mitt holds at least twice the wash solution as does the Smitt. I have had zero problems rinsing debris/dirt/particles from the Ulti-Mitt. I would say its just as free-rinsing as the Shmitt. I do feel like the Shmitt is a little more aggressive; not in terms of abrading power of the foam, as it is super-soft, but the density of the foam is a bit more than the Lake Country counter-part. As such, it is a bit better for washing more soiled vehicles. I also really enjoy the yellow backing on my Shmitt for bugs, below my side skirts, etc. The LC mitt can’t really compete in that regard.

However, as far as normal (not really “normal” anymore as here in NC we can’t use water for anything due to the drought- all ONR in the garage now) washing, I like the Ulti-Mitt.

I have rather small hands, and have zero problems holding on to the Ulti-Mitt; I actually found the Shmitt rather difficult to get in and out of. I don’t want to just hold it on top, I like my hand in the mitt.

I’m not wanting to start an argument, merely trying to hear more experiences and get a bit more discussion on this.

AND I do not want this to turn into a bashing thread for either mitt myself. So share your experiences and keep it pleasant please. Remember opinions are something we all have, I encourage you all to share yours, but keep it friendly.
Thank you!;)

To each their own, it's like starting a thread which car is better, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, or Nissan Altima. Again, to each their own, I really like my Shmitt, works very well for me for clear reasons, and I just though to share it with you guys/gals.

More questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the review.

PS:
In terms of driving
Altima > Accord >>Camry
Camry V6 and Altima V6 are the fastest off the line. I think the Camry's power delivery is a bit poor.
haha with that said I think there is an Accord Coupe in my future.

I have the ulti-mitt, and I like it for the most part, although I dont have a schmit to compare it to.

Pros of the ulti-mitt:

It cleans very well, so I dont have to make as many passes over the same spot, which I feel reduces the chances of damage.

I have never had any problems with rinsing, it seems to release every last bit of grime with a quick dunk in the rinse bucket.

It holds ALOT of sudsy water, especially when compared to a sheepskin.

Cons:

Its too big. I dont have the biggest hands, but I feel like it should be smaller, to fit on your hand better and to fit into tighter spots, like underneath a spoiler.

I havent used mine all that much, maybe 10-12 washes, and its already showing signs of wear. This wont be a problem if it holds together, but if it continues to separate and rip at the seems like it is now, its going to fall apart way too soon.

I wish it had some kind of a cuff, again to help hold it on your hand.

All in all I am pretty happy with it, so far. I feel like it may come in handy on cars that are reasonably dirty, but it may not be needed on a well kept car, sheepskin may be better for that. I just hope the wear and tear is limited to whats happened already.

Thanks for the review supercharged and badblzr, head to head reviews always come in handy for people.

Thanks for your review supercharged. I really enjoyed it especially since I've got to order another right away.
Here's a little trick if you ever need it. I just did this this week. The yellow back separated on my ShMitt. There was maybe 3" holding at the base. I went to get the new one that I thought that I had but I must have put it in play months ago. No new one. I let the old one dry out, glued it back with "Gorilla Glue", and put some weight on it. I used it yesterday and it held OK.

nice review
i think i like the schmitt as well
i have the all white one , it works great!

Nice review! I love my Shmitt. Someday I'll get the Ulti Mitt to see which one I like better.

I bought a smhitt about 2 months ago it separated on me today,I may have washed around 25 cars and trucks with it.I really liked the way it went in hard to reach places,I sure thought it would last longer than it did.I like it but the durability really stinks to me

Barry if you bought it from us send me a PM with info.
Thanks

I just purchased one of the Ulti-Mitts. Washed my truck a few times with it and love it. Holds a bunch of suds and works great.

I used to be the biggest fanboy for the Schmitt. I had one for several months and did hundreds of car washes. It finally wore out.

I bought two more and the two were toast before the month was out due to the adhessive coming completely off. It was a big let down and I want the schmitt back that actually lasted!

Thanks for the review.

I am reading that this is not an isolated incident. Aaron if your reading this, use the glue you guys first used when these suckers came out!

After trying Zymol sponge, I actually have no use for both Shmitt and Ulti-Mitt.
