I actually had some education in detailing about 20 years ago from job corps. I have been a hobby detailer now for around 25 yrs just doing work on mine and my friends and families vehicles. I am finding things have changed considerably over the yrs so I am watching a lot of the videos to refamilirize myself with techniques and equipment. My hope is to start making a living doing overnight detailing but I have a lot to relearn. My name is Shannon Wagner and I reside in Ohio with my wife and two children. I wish to do this to better our lives and to be honest I find detailing vehicles of all kinds soothing and relaxing it is my zen table! lol

Products and Procedures have changed quite a bit over the past quarter century
It's still very labor intensive. That hasn't changed unfortunately

:welcome: ...to AGO.

{Strange for me to see Ohio and Zen Table in the same paragraph...}

Good Luck on your future overnight detailing venture.

I think overnight detailing is a great idea, I haven't heard of that one before

(although I'm pretty new to detailing)

Have you ever worked overnights before? It is extremely physically/mentally taxing. I did it from my early to mid twenties and unless my families survival was at stake could never go back. REALLY consider how difficult shift work will be on you and your entire family before committing to it.

Welcome to the forum, keep us updated on your plans!

I have worked overnights most of my life I am a night owl! Alot of people find that nuts but its the time I strive which is why I choose this idea. As for kids they are 16 and 17 so almost out and for wife it will probably keep us from fighting as much.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, there have been a lot of changes in products, paints, machines, pads and processes.

If you have to rely on detailing to stay alive financially, the soothing and relaxing zen part of it will likely change too.

If that happened....what would be your zen like activity then?

Just something to think about because we should all have something right?

Nights will work as most need there cars to work days.
Also know one will be coming by to get in your way.Down side there isnt any sun to check your work.Good luck to you and god bless you for trying more need to take your lead.

Nights are for sleeping, days are for working. I'm assuming you have a day job - and your going to work all night???

This is a big problem at my shop. Being at the location it is, friends, family or potential client's for my landlord are always holding me up. It never happens when I'm working late at night.:xyxthumbs:
