Einszett Gummi Pflege

did you just say the solution (and dirt) will break down the applicator?? oh oh, does it have the same effect on the trim?

No, the plastic and rubber trim on your car are a lot more durable than the applicator foam.

You should wash any applicator after applying product because eventually the chemical will break it down.

I thought bantering was good natured joking which what I was trying to do. :props:

Do you just apply straight to seals or do you clean them first ?

To me, the seals look like they 'plump' up or swell a little bit after application. It makes those seals that have been crushed and matted down nearly flat look pliable again.

Pretty sure you should stay away from silicone on your vehicle. In fact, I think I'd stay away from that gummi stuff altogether, based on what you are saying. Others may correct me. Let's see.
Some might or all not agree but that's what this forum is about ,I use pledge work great and deosnt run when wet.been using it forever.

I realize that the above post is over 4 years old...
However: Since we're on the subject, I still would
like to interject the below paraphrased sentiment:

"...if anyone ever tells you that silicone is bad for
vehicles' paint, rubber (like tires, trim) and many
other components; and, that, you should stay away
from any "silicone based" products; it's best to go
ahead and end the conversation":

-"They have no idea what they're talking about,
and their advice/opinion should be considered
dubious, at best."

Maybe I can clarify things a bit...

Silicone is not bad. In fact it's chemically inert which means it's inactive. So why is it in Gummi Pflege? Silicone is water resistant and anytime you need water resistance, you add silicone. It also offers shine which is strictly for appearance purproses. Silicone is found in polishes, waxes, tire dressings and yes, Gummi Pflege.

But the silicone we use in Gummi is water based. There's water based silicone and oil based silicone. Oil based silicone is the silicone used in what many think of when they think greasy tire dressings that are blinding and sling and have a reputation for breaking down rubber. That part is true because they oil based products are similar to mineral oil and putting any petrol based product on rubber is going to degrade it over the long term. This is especially true if it's a low flashing petroleum (ie mineral oil) which can linger on the rubber or plastic long enough to cause harm. The silicone oil in those products are not bad in themselves, just the petroleum in the dressing itself.

On the other hand, our water based Gummi Pflege contains water based silicone because silicone oil would not mix with the water solution. Because Gummi Pflege is water based it doesn't harm or affect the rubber. Again, the silicone is added to offer water/weather resistance.

Here's a quick read on rubber and plastic care if you want more detailed information: Restoring plastic trim - tire dressing - rubber conditioner

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

I don't know about other car makers, but BMW used Gummi Pfledge exclusively in their dealerships to fix squeaky door seals and weather stripping. I saw it used on my car at dealerships in both the UK and US.

A quick coat of this stuff and I'd be good to go for months. It worked great.

Mike, when will Einszett be officially terminated? Is Kenotek the new company?

Never mind, found my answer:

Re: einszett Closes the Next Chapter Begins nextzett
Hello everyone, Mike from einszett here...

As the importer of einszett in the USA and Canada for the past fifteen years, it's been a sad time but also one of optimism.

Production under the nextzett brand starts next month and will start to appear around January/February here in North America. We will continue selling einszett until it runs out. There might be some overlap in the brands but rest assured that the products will retain their names and formulas.

In looking at the new logo , you can probably determine where the focus will be placed when creating the new products.

As far as new products coming out, we are looking realistically at 2017 but this could come sooner. Such products would be new polishes and waxes. For now, the focus is to continue producing the einszett staples like Cockpit Premium, Plastic Deep Cleaner, Klima Cleaner, Gummi Pflege, Kristall Klar, W99 and so on.

We are looking at bringing back products like Leather Care and Waterless Wash, which were discontinued earlier this year.

I will let you know any updates as we receive them.

If you have any questions about this new chapter of einszett with the new company nextzett, please feel free to ask.

Thanks for all your years of business and support. Looking forward to the coming years!
