I take way to long. I saw this response on another site under the topic:
Is it really hard to shine your car?
One response was:
The part in bold really threw me. This person can't be talking about full details, can they? It usually takes me at least 8 to wash\clay\cut\polish\wax\glass\wheels\tires\interior etc etc..
None of these times seemed correct to me for a proper detail. Of course vehicle condition can play a huge part in time.

well it depends what is very long in your terminology. to a professional detailer they can typically average 3 cars in 8 hours. give or take . How much do you love your car? if you truley love your car then time spent shining her up is time well wasted in all respects. i would count on at least a half hour to wash depending on size of vehicle. prolly an hour or so to wax or polish. give yourself about a half hour on wheels 45 minute to an hour if their chrome and complex. and about an hour or so on interior door jambs and what not. and last but not least be carefull doing this but you gotta clean the engine bay. this time varies greatly depending on age and condition of vehicle.
