Hey there guys. I've been wondering recently about how you guys tackle polishing areas around emblems and door handles, and other small tight spaces, like a front bumper. After compounding and polishing my Eclipse, i was not able to get to areas like those that i stated and it bugs me. I dont know if i should do it by hand or what. I even ordered my self some 3inch megs microfiber pads to try out around these areas. Im just lookin to improve these areas significantly, not to 100%, since theres no point for a daily driver.

Heres a picture of my emblem area before i did all the work. To be honest i didnt do much around the area super close to the emblem so i dont have any after pics. Ill be uploading the full album of pictures from the detailing session sometime next week :D

I use a 4" pads and for emblems sometime do buy hand. You can tape around the emblem and use a 4" pad on it.

Your picture isn't loading on my phone for some reason but I agree with Pureshine. Also, MF pads are great for around trim and emblems.

From your picture you should be able to bring your pad right up to the edge of your emblem and just hit those inside edges and the top by hand with the aid of some qtips....

Debadge it :dblthumb2:

Wrap a finger in a MF or a q-tip with some compound on it, less aggressive is best since you're in such a small area.

Alright thanks guys for the tips! The area the moment looks nothing like the before picture right now but it definetaly needs more attention. Ill try the q tips and microfiber on a finger method :)

someone mentioned somewhere that they take old pads that are worn out and cut them up into various shapes to get into places by hand.

that's probably the way to go here.. maybe cut a pie-wedge shape to get in the nooks.

Great ideas! :xyxthumbs:

In one of his videos, Mike suggested using a MF applicator pad and compound to remove scratches from the recessed area behind door handles. This weekend I had a chance to try it out and it worked amazingly well! I used the Kangaroo MF applicator pad from CarPro and some Menzerna FG 400, and in a few minutes the scratches were no more!!
