Engine Bay Detailing

The only thing i've done to cover things was to take some plastic grocery bags and put them over the battery/fusebox/alternator. I'll admit though, i'm a bit of a klutz when it comes to spraying the engine bay, so better safe than sorry!

try using the foam gun with a diluted APC. Pretty awesome for an initial presoak. After than, a variety of towels + brushes to scrub everything. At that point I rinse, dry with a shop vac, and then dress with 303.

I like CD2 engine detailer. autozone sells it in an aerosol.
It is just a dressing, it does not clean.

How in the world are you finding CD2?? I thought it was discontinued in 2011? I can't find it anymore.

I have washed tens of cars with a pressure washer (Karcher) in the past without covering anything in the engine bay, and experienced zero problems.

There is a bit of a myth in this, as there are many myths in car detailing, many of which are designed to milk more $$ out of peps pockets.

Not that I promote this method, but I used to detail new cars at a chevy dealership, and we pressure washed every engine bay with nothing covered. We never had an issue in the 5yrs I worked there, that would be hundreds of vehicles.

I always just sprayed everything down with simple green, agitate it with a long bristle brush, rinse with a garden hose and maybe blow out some of the water with compressed air. Never had a problem and always had great results.
