I am wondering if there is such a thing as a spray on and leave it product that will shine metal, plastic, hoses etc? After steam cleaning or power washing the engine bay, is there something you can just spray on? I used to use a product by Stoner but now can't find it anymore. Any ideas?

Most here use Stoner's Tire Shine or Armor-All.

Klasse AIO --- painted parts
303 Protectant --- Lines and rubber tubing
DP Exterior Cleaner --- wipe down dirty area's with damp towel

I usually just spray some tire foam on there and let the engine bake for a little bit and than open up the hood and wipe off the excess.

Stoner?

I got the stoner spray at Autozone about 2 years ago. Now they are telling me it is not around. I haven't seen the Instant Shine. Is that available online only?

The Stoner's was likely More Shine Less Time. They have since shortened it to just "More Shine". Pep Boys and many auto stores carry it if you're looking for a local outlet.

Sonus makes one, its called Sonus trim and motor kote. I always wanted to try it.

I'll look for the CD2. So far I have cleaned the engine bay, then sprayed some Stoner trim stuff on it. Next I'll clean off any sticky residue. Then will try CD2. Is Sonus some fairly hard to find brand, other than on Internet?

Big Al (Al-53) was telling me about Duragloss #265, what I understand it's about like CD2. I'm going to give it a try.

this product looks good on the engine..but the engine area has to be dry for best performance...

I have 6 cans of CD2 I bought last year when Advanced auto was selling it out at 1.99 a can...I seen a few posts a while back on using the DG 265 as a engine detailer..so I tried it when I washed the engine area down...its just like CD2...just spray on and walk away....just watch the over spray that can fly out the sides....or out the cowl area...lol....but wipes of paint and glass no problem if you get over spray...

DG265 is what I use on my engine compartments. It says it is safe for the hoses ans makes them flexible. Really nice spray. If I remember correctly it has a fan spray nozzle. I think I see a review in my future. Hope the camera is charged!

to clean, i use simple green or simple green mix...whatever i have available and mix it 50/50 with water....agitate with brush if need be and rinse. After everyhing is dry i use 303 on hoses and such.

I am a big fan of DG 265, but it is nothing like CD2 except for that its in a can. The 265 looks and feels much more oily. It doesn't last anywhere near as long, and is a bit finicky when water is around.

CD2 dries to a very even, matte, durable finish. I've had CD2 keep its "just after application" look for six months on an engine that was dusted monthly.

265 has not performed anywhere close to that, given every opportunity. I have several cans of CD2 and am certain they will last me at least 5 years.. I only apply twice a year.

265 isn't an inferior product, I just feel its use is different. I use it for wells, and every once in a while when I'm pressed for time during an ONR wash in the winter, on tires. It looks great on a properly cleaned engine, but the look fades rather quickly *for me.*

Do you remember how much you paid for it? I called several auto places but none carry it (even Advanced Auto) but did see it on-line for $8.99 a can
