Hey Everyone,

For those of you who detail engines, do you advise them you are not held accountable for any damage and they are having the engine detailed at their own risk?

So many modern electronics, fuse boxes, and air intakes under there you should move with care. I prefer to:

1. Wipe down with washless wash
2. Use Klasse AIO on all painted parts and rain gutters/tracks
3. Use 303 on rubber lines and surrounds

No pressure washers, no streams of water, and working on it on a monthly or bi-monthly basis means no need for extreme cleaning and chance of damage.

I cover all electronic components with plastic wrap i.e. fuse box, alternator etc... and treat them by hand. I offer engine detailing as an option and I have found many customers are unsure about having the engine done and more often then not they ask me to leave it alone. If you know what your doing when it come to detailing the engine then it should be as natural as waxing.

I feel like in the engine, less is best. Unless you are doing a show car, the engine doesn't need to be spotless. A quick cleaning and topical dressing will more than satisfy 95% of all clients..

Everyone has so many different ways about cleaning engines lets hear your safest easiest way and what you use!

Cover alternator and other obvious electronics. Cover all bearing ridden pulleys. Wet engine with power washer on low pressure. Spray with degreaser and rubber tire cleaner. Let sit a few mins then agitate with brushes. Again with power washer on low pressure wash away all contaminates. Blow off engine with leaf blower. Start engine and allow it to burn off all remaining water. Dress engine with non silicone dressing.:dblthumb2:

^ I Like your process its similar to mine except i dont use a pressure washer. How do you go about dressing the engine? Do you wipe on with hand or spray the hole engine down? Let it soak in or wipe it off? Im just curious to what everyone else does to see if i cant find a better/easier way to do it.
