Mike,

First off i want to thank you for the time it takes to answer questions ALL the time. and the lengthy, very informative, and full of links, responses you give.

I HATE engine detailing and i screwed up our (me and the gf's) 01 Mustang GT's engine this weekend. It now has white spots with what i tried. Im not going to post, and get ragged by other people, with what i used. So if you could, and it would be GREATLY appreciated, could you post up links to some products on AutoGeek for me to purchase. One thing i did use is Black Magics engine detailer. SUCKS BAD... i hate this stuff. i sctually took the bottle, set it up on a fence post and shot it with my 223 from about 170 pards away (it was worth the walk). lol. thats how much i hate it.

I appreciate the staying positive aspect of your post, it's easy to go negative and common on forums, it's harder to stay or write positive but there is a time and place for everything.

We need to know what material or surface coating has the white spots? Is it matte black plastic surfaces? Or polished aluminum surfaces?

Can you post a picture? No one on this forum will be allowed to give any of our members a hard time, it just isn't going to happen. Before we can work on a remedy though we need to know what we're working on.

im not worried about cleaning whats currently got white spots. Im just wondering about engine detailing in general. What to use to do the best work, or atleast very good work. I tried a couple things i thought might work and they didnt. So im just in the market for what i need to do a good engine detail. Thanks Mike!!
 
What I use, from Rick Ford showing me, is Amazing Roll-Off to wash the engine. After the engine is washed, I will use Stoners More Shine. After that, just start the car and let the engine run for a few minutes. Quick and simple. I have done that on three vehicles so far. I'm trying to do my mothers 2003 Ford Explorers engine. It has about 90k miles on it.

This is the Stoners I use:

Stoner® More Shine-Less Time Tire Shine: Spray on an instant shine for tires, rubber moldings, etc. tire spray, tire dressing, rubber dressing, stoner

I only use the Amazing Roll-Off on the engine. I have not tried it on anything else. Also, just place 1/4th of it into a spray bottle. The rest water. Tis what I did/do.

the roll off is cheap. im gonna try it on engine and wheels. If it works good on both, im gonna order the 3 gallon pack of it b/c il go thru that 32oz quick using it on engines and wheels.
