Don't laugh. A shower cap. Buy um cheap at the Doallar store.

I'm not laughing.......

I'm on my way there to buy one!........well tomorrow.

Nice idea!

When you guys use the armor-all tire foam, do you just spray it on everything or only plastics?

I follow Justin's lead and just cover the cold air intake (a shopping bag and masking tape works fine). If plugs and wires etc are exposed, maybe cover them, although I haven't for the last 35 years. And a pressure washer is the BEST. Especially if you have one with variable pressure. Just use a little care and thought. Then start the engine after uncovering the intake and let her run a couple minutes. No more, just get it a little warm to help drying.
For protection and shine in the engine compartment, one of the guys here (I forget who, sorry) turned me on to 303 protectant. Wonderful!!! It's been a week since I put it on and the shine hasn't faded. Great stuff. Thank you whoever responded earlier.

coils .... distributors .... air intakes. DP makes a nice new engine cleaner, but I only use the wet towel and wipe down method. You pay for an Opti-spark unit once, and you learn a valuable lesson.
This is an excellent idea, Scott. I never thought of that. do you use terry towels, of MF on engine? I was always using terry towels, but never wet towel method.

Hi all, I'm new here on the forums but i detail cars in the Philippines. Due to the lack of products here (only eagle one, megs and mothers) i use the mothers line and mark V for my detailing.

I just have one question for you all, in your engine detailing none of you had mentioned anything about aluminum brighteners. I think that's a very important part of an engine detail. Do any of you use this?

I posted a few pics, just take a look at the evap and the airconditioning lines. It really makes a big difference. Sorry the pics aren't so great, it taken with my cell phone.

I dont cove anything, However I keep the engine runiing as a precaution. I ause simple green. I have had great results with it no marring etc. IProduct is great on degreasing and cleaning. I actually use it on inside of house. have heard great things about the purple. I am allways looking for something better.. Like I said I allways keep engine running. Why incase water finds its way wher it should not be. The engine RPM will tell the story. If their is no whater going to vital engine parts I will shut off engine. Opps and where I need to get!

I always cover the cold air intake, alternator and some of the electrical parts especially with mecedes and BMW. When spraying with water i just spray with a light mist from my pressure washer. There really isn't a need to spray a hard stream in the engine bay.

I never use in engine compartment a pressure washer!

You should try, if its a light mist then there is a lot more air than water going to the engine which in effect be a lot safer than using a regular hose.
