Ever thrown out or given away most of your stuff and start again?

I need to get rid of some stuff for sure. I have some products that have been sitting on a shelf for years and I can't even remember why I bought them in the first place. Why did I ever buy two bottles of petroleum based tire dressing?

I just dumped a bunch of Klasse AIO and SG, been sitting around for a couple years.

Same here. I still have both. Can't give them away. Two friends tossed theirs. I'm getting close to putting it into the next batch of hazardous waste disposal. Twice a year we can drop off for no cost.

I have two great products, Griots synthetic sealer and Meguiar Ultimate Synthetic that I've moved on from and will give to a friend or family member when they ask.

I'm set with Wolfgang, McKees and Collinite and some CG. I have some Sonax products that I'll use up but not reorder.

I haven't started over, but I have given away plenty of products. I had enough of the oily type tire dressings to dress all the tires at a typical large car dealership...I ended up giving them all away when I decided to fully start using water based dressings instead. My more recent giveaway included enough sealant to do about a hundred cars if not more, a few different carpet cleaning products, and some polishes. At this point, I have pretty much narrowed down the products I use to specific ones. I still tend to stock up on those in particular because you never know when something you really like might be discontinued. I want to try a few of the recently released products, but might wait until I exhaust a few more of my current ones to do so. Buying a lot of stuff at once is kinda what led up to having way more of most stuff than I could ever use.

I donate chemicals often, my friend just got her new WRX and she inherited a whole bunch of CG products of mine, they were just collecting dust. She loves em so I am happy that they didn't go to waste, considering how much money I have sunk into products that past few years....my god. I just started to think about that really...lol. I could've had my Barrett M95 by now....

There are some things I could get rid of. For instance, I'm giving a buddy of mine my HF polisher I used maybe 5 times? Just don't like it so I thought I'd give it to someone to actually get use out of it.
And I definitely have some products I don't use I could give away or throw away.

But I'd hesitate trashing a bunch of my stash... I paid too much money for my products. And every once in a while I reach for something I haven't used in a while. I'd hate for it not to be there.

I've been wanting to do this for a couple of months. I have way too much stuff. Don't use most of it. But I can't just chuck it out, either. Although, I fear I may end up doing just that soon enough.

I have an eBay auction going right now for a couple of items. Already has some bids. Might have to do this more often to pare down the detailing cart so I can actually find the stuff I use frequently.

Is ebay even worth the expense and hassle anymore?

I wonder too. When I was going through my stuff, I found I *might* have a decent chance if I bundled multiple products. If I sold just ONE thing, say a wax, I don't think I would gain anything. Cost of ebay/paypal fees, plus shipping. And something small and less expensive, you won't really be able to pass the shipping cost onto the buyer.

Well, we do have a trade section here, go for that, you might find a consumable that you might wanna try, like rinseless or waterless wash, wheel cleaner, glass cleaner, etc. I actually need to do this, I'm coated and I don't see going back to waxes and sealants again except for when I do a side job.

I have not done that. Every year I try to reduce the number of products I have in my arsenal and find it really, really hard. Everytime I try to remove a spray bottle, I see ways this would be the only product I could use for that situation... so I always end up with just about the same number of products to carry. Right now I have 4 milk crates full of spray bottles and squeeze bottles. I know that some of the chemicals I use will be replaced entirelly when I run out, for example: Meguiar's APC and Super Degreaser will be replaced by Super Clean, but I still have half of gallon of concentrate for both, so it will take a while. And some products I simply will not buy again (Collinite Isolator Wax for example) because while they are amazing products, I do not use them prefering other products instead.

Honestly I have.

I scrapped what ever was left of my Meguiars Detailers line last year when business was slow and under a different business model.

I went to using 95% all Wolfgang stuff. never been disappointed with Wolfgang, but let's be real here. Not cheap compared to Meguiars.

I regret it now since business has gotten better (not for anything) and fully understand why Meguiars has an economic line. Lol.

Honest truth number two:

I would love to start over again because I am a sucker to try other things on the market, but I am actually going through things fast enough where that would make no sense to throw out Wolfgang.

You would have to have the SDS information for the products or they cannot take them.

Yeah, and God forbid one of the kids got some in his eye. The parents would probably try & sue you.

No thanks on the donation to a school nowadays.

I have given a lot of things to buddies in hopes of them catching the detail bug as well.

Yup yup. Seen it, and even used it. In some cases I've even thrown in "extras" just to help dwindle down my products :)

I have rinseless/waterless products that I haven't even used once :(
I have a gallon of 3D window cleaner waiting for me at the store...and it's FREEEEE. Still there.

Darn this addiction!!!

Where is the trade section? I have a bunch of stuff I want to trade or get rid of.

I do and now I have honed my products to just a few.

I feel your pain!
