This should be a good one. What car cleaning products are the "evil" ones?

Armoral is a MAJOR one to me. Feed back please

How about those "no scratch" bug sponges??

...or Turtlewax Rubbing Compound in the white plastic tubs?

Don't know if evil is the right word, but turtle wax products(waxes and polishes) have never worked for me.

Dawn Dish Soap

Yeah true, but that's not intended for cars!

To revise my earlier post, by the way, I meant those cheap bug sponges you can get at local parts stores...I haven't tried any from AG! My brother recently put some "character" on his truck with one of those cheap ones. Yikes!

I used one of the Pinnacle ones on a Mini yesterday. Worked as advertised! Great addition to the arsenal.

As for evil, I'm going with Megs Wheel Brightner. It works no doubt, but I'd want to apply it with a HAZMAT suit on. Scary stuff.

spongetech sponge. i cringe because i know they are selling a ton of them from those commercials.

Oh, and I've decided that Mequire's Gel Tire dressing (the purple, grape scented stuff) is evil...at least for me. It gets on everything, the smell never leaves your hands, and good Lord does it build up and turn brown after a while. It takes a great deal of scrubbing to get the old stuff off the tires. The Wife likes the shiny look on her tires, so I used it on hers for a while, but no more! I refuse.

Send me the rest of that stuff. It will smell fine to me since I can no longer smell. HA HA HA :righton:

I have used the $3.99 bug sponges from auto parts stores without a scratch. It does instruct you to use suds and light pressure.

I've asked a question earlier about the bug sponge sold here. Does it remove wax and sealants?

My list of evil cleaning compounds.

The bug and tar removers that contain distillates that literally kill a bucket of soap, (Rain X Gel) almost neutralizing it, as the suds disappear before your eyes. And that's after rinsing before washing. The residue is enough to kill the suds.

Gunk glass cleaner with ammonia. Otherwise known as wax stripper.

Tire cleaners (Black Magic) that warn, "keep off metal and paint surfaces and glass" avoid over-spray.
It should just say, "Put me back on the shelf, I am not for use on your car".

Armor-All, for putting such a high shine on the dash of the fellows car that nailed my old man's truck because the sun hit it and blinded him. It is a moss green 3/4 ton extended cab long bed, how do you miss seeing it?:D

Armor-All, if you use it inside your vehicle, will crack you dash and destroy stuff.

In all fairness, Armor-All removed low grade silicones from its products several years back. Most if not all of the newer dressings are water based and safe without damage. While I dont prefer their product line as mass market, using meaning low cost ingredients, it still should be ok to use without fear.

I still will not buy that "stuff". lol :D

i think anything that is sold on a infomercial that has to do with car care should be considered evil!!! LOL
