I got some new products today, wanted to play around with them tonight. So I go to polish the hood of my beater car, reached for my DP clay, and look what I found...

gross huh? I hate mold, i didnt mess with it at all, threw it right out case and all. I thought you were suppose to store clay with a generous amount of clay lube sprayed on it? Im assuming this is what caused the mold.

anyway this ever happen to you guys? how do you store your clay?

I will add that it is kept outside in a cabinet in my garage, and its been kind of humid recently. Also that is not the original DP clay case, because that clay was lightly used, I separated it from the unused portion.

just figured id share my nasty pic with you guys:D

O and another one of my detailing stuff (Chief Brody voice) "We're gonna need a bigger boat..."

ewwwwwww....never has happend..i just keep in plastic bag

I give my clay one or two squirts of clay lube and put them back in it's original container with no problems. It looks like you were pretty generous with the lube.:D

I store my clay in an air-tight container and spritz well with clay lube before storing. Never saw that !! May I ask, did you use clay lube last time or something like soap/water ??

the only thing ive ever used for clay lube is DP 4 in 1 mixed to the clay lube ratio, and just this last time I used the clay magic clay lube that comes with the kit.

I think its because that little case I got isnt exactly air tight, I think Im going to put the case in a zip lock bag, hopefullt that should do it.

you Have To Use Tupper Wear!!! And Make Sure You Burp The Lid!!:d

That sucks, I just put it back in the case without any lube spray. So yes it is dry. And have never had a problem. Have been doing that for years. And the case isn't ever air tight

I put it in an air tight container, no lube or anything.

normally mold is bacteria and water or dampness.

for you guys that dont spray it with lube when storing it, does it ever dry out to the point of no return? Im assuming you just kneed it for awhile with some lube to freshin it up when you go t use it

I can see where you're coming from: mine do that all the time. It annoys me, so now I just put a plastic bag on top of my clay tub and it's prevented it from happening. The clay can now dry and the plastic bag keeps the dirt out.

Is it possible to use cer-ran wrap to keep the clay from drying up?
I figure a quick spray of lube and wrap, toss it in a small bucket container.

I put my clay in a zip lock sandwich bag then into the clay container...no problems yet

UGH, it happened AGAIN! I looked at it today, and another piece of DP clay is moldy. This time it was stored in the original DP container, with 1 or 2 sprays of clay lube (dp 4in1 clay lube mix), and the case was in a ziplock bag that I squeezed all the air out of....

WTH is going on here???

tupperware with no clay lube is up at bat next, Im losing alot of clay

Some bacteria is getting in there somehow, you should store it dry and air tight, that way it won't dry out, if that ever happens to clay that is. I'm sure storing clay dry isn't bad for it. Clay always comes dry when you buy it..

Im definitely going to store it dry this time around, I just always read to store it with some lube.

When the clay is new its in that shrink wrap plastic, right now I have two bars still in that stuff, there all I have left, everything not in shrink wrap has been ravaged by mold!

I cant believe I even have to post ion this thread again!!!
