I sure wish you wouldn't bite-the-bullet...Either Going to pick up some steel wool on the way home tomorrow night or swing by the local Harley dealer. It's really baked on there. That or I'll just bite the bullet and get the online stuff
No need for any steel wool
MAAS metal polish on my exhaust tips, a little before and after for you.

Thanks...nice pic
How often do you clean them to keep them looking so good?
Are you using a wax or coating on them after you polish them out?
I sure wish you wouldn't bite-the-bullet...
on picking-up any steel-wool for use on your exhaust.
Bob
Best not to assume...One of the AG guys (maybe it was Nick) suggested brass wool (instead of steel) if it's needed. I assume that wouldn't scratch as much?
My fault, it was Bronze wool. I need to do some cleaning on my wife's exhaust tips some time soon--will note if I need to use/how it worked out.
Here are before pics. No after yet. It's raining and at work. Top is shiny, bottom is the tough gunk I'm talking about.![]()

Bronze wool will be softer than steel wool but both are still significantly more coarse than using a polish.
Is there a need to get that aggressive when cleaning your exhaust tips?
Does a metal polish not work?
