I think I made a mistake by not getting Panel Wipe for EXO v2. Can I wash my freshly polished surface with Dawn and then do an IPA wipe before the EXO and it still be effective? Thanks for the help, you guys are awesome!!!

Panel Wipe is more effective than IPA. I'll let someone else chime in about your ? but I would if it were me I'd use Panel Wipe.

No need to wash with dawn. You can use IPA mixed at 70% and have no issues.

With EXO work in small sections and remove quickly. If you let it sit up to long you will be left with streaks and have to polish to remove them. The small the sections you work in the easier the coating is to work with.

If your planning on two coats of EXO which I recommend then wait 3 hours before applying the second coat.

Key is to get the panel completely clean so that EXO is applied to the clearcoat alone (or fresh C1).

So, whatever cleans the clearcoat effectively should work, whether it be IPA, PW, Eraser, mineral spirits or whatever. As long as it is just clearcoat, EXO should bond just fine.

This is best accomplished by polishing and removing polish residue with your choice.

Thank you guys! You set my mind at ease, I appreciate it!

Thanks Evan. I was planning on doing two coats so this is very helpful.

There's plenty of EXO in the 30 mL vial. I did 2 full coats on my car last year and then a 3rd coat on the hood.

I tried 22PLE this year, but I might use C1/EXO the next time. (I did love it.)

The C1 + EXO is a great combo and it beats anything I have used yet in the way of beading, sheeting, feel, and look.

Question: i applied the C1 and EXO combo last August 2014. It still looks great.
I had a difficult time with EXO flashing quickly and leaving streaks.
Has EXO been improved so it will not flash quickly?
I would give it another chance if it were easier to work with.

If you are having issues with streaking then you can either do one of two things:

1. Shrink down the area you are working on.
2. Apply and wipe off.

Heat and humidity play a huge factor in how quickly coatings flash. The higher both of those are the faster it will flash.

Panel Wipe is stronger than IPA. I believe it contains some hydrocarbon(s).
If you decide to use IPA make sure you apply it very thoroughly.

I agree. IMO heat and humidity are the biggest factors. I've used C1 and EXO on several vehicles. I wait 4-12 hours between C1 and EXO, usually around 8 hours. I haven't had any issues putting the second coat of EXO on 40 minutes after the first. Have you had issues putting the second coat of EXO on 40 minutes after the first? If so was the temperature low when you applied it?? I'm going to be doing a car in lower temperatures and don't want to have any issues...

Its much easier to transfer exo into a small spray bottle. One spray, than microfiber in other hand and wipe it off, I found this method working the best, no streaks, and VERY easy to apply. They should include a small spray bottle with exo, or have it COME in one.

EXO used to be in an aerosol can.

Yes that was the old version too, and a lot of people liked it that way, not sure whey they switched, but using your hand to wipe this on typically leaves finger swipe marks and such when the product flashes, I found that using a small push spray bottle for .60 cents works AMAZING, even coats, and no streaks what so ever, even on black cars.

It wasn't VOC compliant and I don't think they could have made it either.

Anyone find anything like exo, but easier to apply?

Are you saying to spray Exo on the panel and wipe to spread OR spray it on the microfiber and apply? I have Exo in the aerosol can.

I am planning to apply 22PLE and top it with EXO. I have panel wipe for pre-clean.
