So did 4 cars now with v2 exo all where corrected, ipa wipe down than applied with exo v2. On this last car he did not want a correction, so it was washed, clayed, ipa wipe down, than applied exo v2. Started noticing right away web applying that it was drying fast, and would easily streak, so if I added more and wiped off super quickly with microfiber seem to lessen. So this is what I did having a hard time. Looked pretty good when was finished no visible streaks, customer got it 3 days later after a wash he started noticing small streaks. I have no idea what I did wrong, did the same thing as always, ipa wiped every pannel, used the suede type applicator cloths and used two new eagle edge less mf for removal. Than AFTER whole car was done I wiped down a 3rd time. So I'm gonna lightly buff out the streaks but this is upsetting me, I'm ether moving to a less streaky product or if someone has a good answer to why I see tons of people having issues. I thought they just where not getting all residue off, or not cleaning pannel good enough, but I use 1400 lumen leds, everything is ipa whipe down, using a 50/50 mix with dis water and 91%ipa. Just very frustrating. Called gtech and left messages no answer back View attachment 30341View attachment 30342View attachment 30343View attachment 30344

All the prep you did was a wash, clay and ipa, straight to coating?

How do you know that minimal prep left the proper surface behind, most people do decon with trix, ironx, etc, clay, 2 stage before they even think of coating a car....

I'd say the streaking is from lack of proper prep.

Yes this is first car I did with out a correction and first problem car. He did not want a correction just the coating. So I said ok. But maybe future I need to only offer this in correction car only. All cars that where corrected and coated looked great inclusion my personal car, I have a red cayman I'm correcting and wants a exo coating so we will see and this will prove if the car need a proper correction and prep before coating. It only makes sense.

yeah, i'd say the prep probably played a role....

I would have to agree. I also use the manufactures recommended prep product. For Gtechniq I use their "Panel Wipe" For CarPro I use eraser. For DP I use prep polish, etc.

All PW is is a ipa type of mix. But yes my guess is the clay and ipa I guess was not enough, being every other car I coated was striped washed clayed dull staged corrected ipa than coated and had zero issues. This next car will be the test. Gloss red cayman View attachment 30346
I'm gonna take a guess and say that this next coating goes much smoother lol

you can use a little distilled water sprayed on your applicator to help keep the product wet longer

Oohhhh I may try this if I get streaks with the cayman. But hoping with the correction will get the paint clean enough.

I'm also gonna try panel wipe. After talking to some guys they said pw
Is much stronger than a full 91% ipa that's NOT cut down. So I'm thinking since I polished the other cars and had no issues it was cause all previous skins coatings or waxes where taken off with correction. Than ipa to remove polish than coating was fine. With out correction and just ipa wipe my guess is I may have left some oils/silicones and such, causing some light streaks. I don't think it's nothing we can't buff out quickly, I'll keep you updated tomorrow afternoon.

I noticed some streaking lately, I'll probably give it another go with a pump sprayer for it.

What did you do for prep? Clay? Correction? And what did you use for final wipe? Panel wipe?

Yep clay, polish, panel wipe. Likely just due to not being used to it or the cotton applicator. Probably be better with another form of application and working in even smaller sections with a light buff following application.

Ya talked to rob and he suggested using a small pump sprayer for application and while it's wet buff out with a microfiber. I'm gonna try this next car.

He's talking about maybe switching the coatings application process to this, they have been doing it with great results and much easier application.

OK when applying EXO you need to work in very small sections (shoe box size).

EXO is very very finicky when it comes to weather like heat humidity and so on.

When I install EXO I work in small sections. You need to wipe on and wipe off to prevent the streaks from happening. EXO tacks up very quickly and you need to adjust your application method for it.

To remove the streaks you will need to polish it off and reapply EXO.
I use the applicator that comes with the EXO and have never had any issues.
