Expert Leather Cleaning Tips

Very nice thread, Nick. I always feel like I'm learning something new every time I sign into AG. :props:

That's my goal! It's imperative to us that we not only carry the largest selection of car care products on the web, but we educate on how to properly use and get the most out of each respective product too.

Nick,

Most of those new MB, including my GL are optioned with MB Tex, which is vinyl. Was that E350 optioned with full leather? If not, I am very glad to see that those products work on the MB Tex, I am looking to clean my interior.

Good observation! This particular E350 was equipped with the MB Tex. Wolfgang Leather Care Cleaner is safe AND effective on this material too.

What conditioner do you prefer? Good article as well, some tips I will definetly use

Wolfgang Leather Care Conditioner is one of my favorites simply because it smells wonderful, dries to the touch and doesn't make the surface shiny.

Awesome tips!

I only used Autoglym leather cleaner and Autoglym Leather Balm so far And it did a good job on the tan leather in my car removing previous owners grime lol

Do you apply any kind of protectant after cleaning your leather? Or is the Wolfgang LCC a "sealant" also? Which ones would you recommend as i will be throwing some in my next order.

You should always follow up with a dedicated leather conditioner after cleaning leather seats. Wolfgang Leather Care Cleaner is a pure cleaner and has no protective properties.

Today I did a Volvo xc90 that was stained all over. Only chemicals we have to attempt cleaning an interior is an APC RedHot , spot remover from simoniz and xtra duty from car brite.

Nick, question about the leather conditioner applied after cleaning leather seats. I'm new and haven't put a conditioner on my seats before. I have a Navigator w/ perferated heated/cooled seats. Would the cream-like conditioner get into those perferations and possibly plug up the openings? I'm just envisioning this since I've never used the Wolfgang Leather Care Conditioner for instance.

Also, as a side note, once you've applied the conditioner, how long does it take to dry and then sit on? Would it leave any marks on your clothes if you sat on it too soon?

These are probably simple, commonly known answers but I'm just learning, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
