Hello. My T/A was fully painted in 2012. Since then it has always been garaged for 15 hrs a day, parked in the shade most of the time, put away from Nov. to April (NEVER snow/salt etc...) I wash/wax it regularly with p21s shampoo and wax. It had never been touched with anything but clean microfiber cloth/mitt...

My plan: Wash it with dish soap - Iron X - clay - p21s wax---
My question is: am I missing anything?
I apply all my product by hand and don't yet trust myself with a machine buffer :)

Thanks in advance :)

She's a beauty, flawless flakes in the paint too, as for your question it sounds as if your trying to strip the old wax, sealant, lsp while decontaminating the paint which will work though my suggestion would be to iron x the paintwork then clay bar the vehicle for the reasons that Dawn, or any other washing stripping methods won't really remove LSP but mute it to a degree hence my suggestion would make the paint back smooth like silk while removing any iron etc...just some pointers

I'd stay with the P21S, or other car-wash
shampoos. I wouldn't use Dawn.

I wouldn't use Dawn either. It was made specifically for dirty dishes!

You can't go wrong with clay.

Last thing: considering my paint is in great shape...is there any product/step I should consider between [clay and p21s wax?]

No dawn!

Just stick to your current products. They seem to be doing the job!

If you are going to clay, you run a higher risk of marring your paint. So, a polishing step may need to be added. Maybe someone near you can assist you with this.

:iagree:

If you let us know where you are we may be able to help out. Nice T/A.

Skip the dawn dish soap, "takes grease out of your way", said to soften clearcoats as well. I would say IronX is going to be the most you need to clean up the paint.

BTW the paint looks great on the F-body:props:

The only step i would do (without seeing it in person) is maybe a pre wax cleaner but those are best worked by machine and i understand your aversion to such. I also agree with skipping the Dawn and replace it with a quality car dedicated soap.

Beautiful looking paint, though!

I'm familiar with the product Iron X but can someone explain why this is so important to use on ones paint and wheels?

What benefits does using Iron X provide to ones paint??? Better shine????

Iron x is an important step because it penetrates deeply to remove harmful contaminates that can dull, and or destroy said paint schemes prematurely to better say iron x and similar products can extend the life in said areas as long as joint with a maintenance regime.......just my theory

Sounds great. Lol. I'm sold.

You could consider adding a paint cleaner step in between claying and your P21S wax. May help in getting a bit more gloss.

As you are doing it all by hand, I might suggest using Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion. It would be easier to do it with a DA, but this product can also successfully be used by hand.

AWESOME! Thank you all for the great info! So far my order list is as follows:
(5) T365GH Elite Hemmed Edge Microfiber Towel 16''x16'' 360gsm
BLACKFIRE Quart Foamaster Foam Gun
CarPro Iron X Iron Remover
Chemical Guys Clay Eraser Mitt Super Fine
P21S Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo
Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion
(I own an almost new tub of p21s wax)

Who can suggest a great applicator pad(s) for my pinnacle/p21s hand work?
