Is there anything wrong with detailing your car in the winter? I'm talking about an exterior detail by a local shop but does it make sense to do it now or should I wait till the summer?

I guess it really depends on where you are located and what you use your vehicle for, but the extra protection will never hurt.

If it hasn't been done in the last 4-6 months, do it now. Don't wait.

It really blows my mind how people wait until the friged weather hits, then they want their car detailed. If you live in a warm place with mild winters cool. But I live in Ohio,we get cold and snow, salt, brine, ice, hail, you name it we get it. My detail truck was so dirty I just went to a laser No Touch Wash. It's in the garage with some ice on it. After the garage warms up a bit I'll dry it off and use Groits Spray Wax. It's 24 here! NO WASHING HERE!:detailer:

I think you should see if the shop can do just add a wax. That should get you through the winter and get the correction done in the spring so you can enjoy it.

It's 5F here in Chicago. I'm ONR washing the wifes car in the garage right now. I had to wait for the heater to melt the ice from the laser touchless spray wash earlier.

How does one clean their wheels and tires when using a rinseless product in the winter time? I know you are supposed to rinse off most tire cleaners, but can you get away using one of the chemical resistant pressure sprayer?

ONR and hot water make winter washing a car in a garage possible. Too bad the effects don't last long once you hit the snowy roads again.

Jenn, with ONR you wash the dirt off then dry it right away, works the same on wheels.

I'm going to start ONRing my car. I figured ONR worked on the wheels too, but wondered what you do if you need more umph to get the brake dust off.

I spray them with wheel cleaner before I take it through the touchless spray wash. Then I take it home to ONR it.

You may have to scrub it lightly or do more than one application, depends how dirty they are. I've not run into an issue using ONR after a light scrub, even from something like an old toothbrush.

Newbie...Whats ONR?

Optimum No Rinse - instead of using a "foamy soap" that needs to be rinsed off. ONR is used just like the soapy water, but you wipe it off instead of rinsing.
