Ok, so please don't judge me on this, but I not only bought the wrong sealant, but also managed to use it for the wrong purposes :(

I bought BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Metal Sealant, aluminum sealant, metal protectant, chrome sealant, wheel sealant

when I meant to buy this: BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection, paint sealant, synthetic sealant, blackfire sealant

and I've gone and applied the metal sealant to all the paint on my brother's car.

I feel like such an idiot

But, what should I do now?

Live and learn. I sure someone can provide some insight.

How's it look? If it looks alright there shouldn't be an issue.

Honestly it looks good, but it was getting dark as I just finished. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Wash the car and see what your working with??

I'll see if I can do that. Are there any negatives to what I've done. Like can I discolor the paint or something? Because if that's the case, I'm going out right now and stripping it with a dawn wash in the dark.

The sealer shouldn't be bad...if you would have tried to remove swirls with the wheel cleaner it would have been worse. I know I've made my share of mistakes...but reading that and then trying to repeat it to my son was the most I have laughed for a long time...thanks for that

Hey, if someone can get a laugh out of my story, then at least that makes me feel a little better about messing up :D Glad I could get you that laugh!

However, I would still like to know that if there's anything wrong with what I've done? As in negatively impacting the car? If there is a sealant and it just semi works on the paint, I'm fine with that, but if the sealant can damage or discolor something, I'm going to be very unhappy :(

I really don't know. If it were me I think I would wash it...strip the sealant off of it and put a paint sealant on it. That's just my opinion. One of the guys with more experience than me would know better.

I'm sure its fine. I wouldn't be suprised if they are the same product. Just one being re-labeled.

Anyways, I did something similar once. At one point, I had armor all foaming tire shine and foaming interior cleaner. I the bottles look similar, anyways, I dressed my tires one day with the interior cleaner. I didn't realize what I had done until I did all the tires. I couldn't figure out why it looked like crap.. until I looked at the bottle lol.

I don't see anything "wrong" with it. I wouldn't see any harm it could do as it was meant to protect whatever surface it was applied to. I think you should be fine and not worry. As long as its not streaking or high spots (which is hard to see on white anyways) you should be fine.

Is the wheel sealant made for all finish wheels?? If it is then I agree you should be fine...if it was designed for a bare aluminum wheel I might be a little concerned it might etch the paint a little...

You will be fine.
It's protecting the clear coat on the paint just like some rims (metal) are clear coated.

One time I used GTechniq C4 (trim coating) on my paint when I was meaning to use C1 (paint coating).Come to find out, both C1,C4,and C5 are all Very Very similar ;)

As long as it doesn't say do not use on coated wheels I agree you will be ok.

In terms of looks, Metal Sealant (like most acrylics) is going to be extremely shiny and glossy which looks great on the silver painted wheels, chrome, aluminum, and other metals. You could apply it to paint (it won't harm it) but it will not last as long (on paint) as AFPP.

This was on Autopia and posted by the Director of the Forum so I would say you are fine.

Cool thanks for the research, I'm glad to hear it :dblthumb2:

Hahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I'm sry but that is halarious. Hopefully you didn't do any damage to the paint. I'm sure a good degreaser would remove it.
