What is the trophy?
 
This is a much bigger project than most people realize but, as BillyB have verified, it can take many hours when you are dealing with OEM clear and trying to preserve as much as possible. If you plan on keeping it then if might be worth it to you. I would recommend getting a coating thickness gauge if you go through with this.And why not get both the velvet and denim pads to see which works best for you?... If I were you I would think twice about removing any clear from horizontal sections/panels that get the most sunlight.
