Fair price for close friends?

I just offer 50% off for friends for major jobs.
For washes and regular maint, I welcome them into my garage and allow them to use what they please.
Family is free.
 
If you do this for a living if you want to charge $150.00 that is up to you. I would do it for free if they are friends but then again I do not do this for a living. More than likely one of the friends would be helping me which makes it go a lot quicker. Also what if you mess up the car will you be paying for the damages?
 
I am starting to believe that most detailers do not charge enough compared to other industries. I have a friend who has a lawn care business and he fertilized a yard last week and charged $30 plus the cost of the fertilizer and it took him 8 minutes
 
You need to look at it a few ways. If it is a friend that is always willing to help you out with things then yeah a nice discount is good. But there is no point in busting your butt for next to nothing for a friend that shows you nothing in return. I help out friends that help me out, but other get no different treatment then any other clients. Now family is a different story usually.
