PB super slick wash and wax is awesome. Little pricey but a great shampoo.

so many opinions haha i do not like meguiars or mothers.

You may not want to be so quick to say that. I have about 20 soaps and I can tell you there are differences. And I'm not some kind of genius - many others here have noticed differences as well.

Out of all the soaps I've tried - I've never tried Gold Class. But if it works for you - great. A lot of people seem to say it's OK. I can pretty much guarantee you it doesn't foam (or cling) like Honeydew, doesn't touchless clean like Avalanche, isn't as slick as Lusso Oro, suds don't last as long as Optimum, doesn't leave a glow like 1Z Exclusive Glos, doesn't clean as well in the bucket like Ultima, and isn't as good all around as PoorBoys Super Slick Suds.

If I had to recommend a soap in a gallon to the OP that works very well at most tasks and comes in a gallon (and isn't a small fortune), I'd probably go with PoorBoys, Duragloss, or Optimum.

You very well might be right bc you've tried all these products. My point is based purely on cost and availability. Now factor in the 30% off I get (trt30 discount code) at Advanced Auto we talking $6.50 per bottle and I have 3 on my shelf.

With that being said spending $20+ on soap is not an option for a 16 oz bottle. Granted I keep my truck well waxed and garaged, I only wash my truck like twice a month, I have 25 years worth of soap for $20.

I use UWW+ till it NEEDS a real wash and as a drying aid(my truck is black btw).

So how slick, shiny, smelly, sudsy, foamy, glowy a soap makes your car, this has NO bearing and hold no weight in my situation. I don't depend on soap for my shine, nor do I believe it will make it shine more. That's what's polish is for..

I believe the high priced soaps are a rip..... IMHO and I'm OK with my soap being OK.

Dude do you REALLY have 20 soaps?

I need that little icon that's an open mouth with eyeballs bugging out of its head.

:iagree::doh::iagree:

Megs Gold over DG 902? Seriously?!!!?!?!!!

OTOH, I use some old Megs Gold, or Megs Ultimate soap.... on WHEELS! Although usually I take my leftover paint quality soap and pour it in the wheel bucket after the wash, (for the next job). ;)

The foam cannon, as well as the bucket.... usually gets a blend of 902 and Honeydew, (or HyperWash and/or Shampoo Plus). Next order will be *more* 902, HyperWash, and Mr. Pink. :props:

im seeing alot of duragloss and optimum.

IMO you really can't go wrong with either of those. The color and scent are different but IME they behave very similarly in the bucket and on the car. I suspect that 901 may have more glossing agents but that is little more than a guess.

I have about 20 shampoos sitting in my detailing closet, not to mention all the ones that I've tried and discarded, but I can honestly tell you that it depends on what you want to achieve.

I think I saw someone (maybe Swanic) give an example that if you want a snow foam for a touch-less wash then Auto Finesse Avalanche is the way to go. Conversely, if you want something that leaves behind gloss agents and is cost effective, then Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss. The list goes on and on.

For general foam cannon/gun: Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam

Standard Bucket: Ultima Paint Guard Plus+; Optimum Car Shampoo

Gloss Enhancing: Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss; 1Z Exclusiv Gloss

Wash & Wax: 1Z Perls

Heavy Cleaning: Chemical Guys Citrus Wash (Red)

Cost Effective: Chemical Guys (most of their line).

I haven't decided if I like SONAX Gloss Shampoo yet, but it is an honorable mention. Same with Chemical Guys Mr. Pink - it is just like the others, but cost effective. It kind of gets lost in the mix.

Happy detailing!

Ultima is the best I have found for routine bucket washes. Sudsy slick and effective. Cost effective. Concentrated. Optimum and durables are ok but not as rich.

CG citrus red is great for LSP stripping in a full detail.

Wow, you said a lot about a lot of soaps. Thanks. :xyxthumbs:

I've used Meguiars Gold Class for years, but only recently tried a sample of Poorboy's Super Slick Suds.

I like the Poorboy's product better than the Meg's, but the availability and the price of the Meg's leaves it the winner in my garage.

Megs hyper wash. Hands down. And i have used quite a few.

I ran out of Duragloss a while back, great stuff. I have about half a gallon of Optimum car wash soap. Both Duragloss and Optimum foam up real nice in my foam gun.

I used Gold Class in my foam gun and didn't foam up at all. I did get Meguiars Deep Crystal Wash for about $5 at Target to dedicate it to my wheels and tires, but then put it in my foam gun just for kicks and that foamed real nice too. Not as slick as Optimum though. But that's pretty good at $5 for wheels and tires.

I am going to be getting some Meguiars Hyper Wash to try out. I'm sure it will be great like a lot of the other Meguiars products.

I think the stuff I use that isn't Meguiars is alternative clay,UWW+ since it is so versatile and Opti Coat. Everything else is Meguiars, sand paper. compounds, polishes, soaps. Waxes, etc... unless I'm at the body shop then it turns into 3M and Meguiars.

If you wanted more bang for your buck of the ones I mentioned above that is not Meguiars go with Duragloss. If you want top notch stuff but pricier than go with Optimum.

Side thought:

I've been thinking and just a though So not going to try this lol. If a car is opti coated would it be safe to wash it with Dawn soap every week? Since opti coat is chemical resistant?
:dunno:

Been a lot of talk about XMT gel shampoo. Got it bogo. Very pricey. Not so good in the foam gun, great in the bucket. This soap excels in lubricity and the bit of added gloss after. This soap would be hard to beat to MAINTAIN a just sealed/waxed finish.

Lusso, not sure of gallons, but a little goes a long way. Warning though, smelling it will make you take a trip to the beach.
