favorite drying towel

I have been using the green guzzler that AGO sells. I have all three sizes and have found that if a drying towel needs to be softer than these towels your system has a hole in it. I use my towel after the paint has been washed and the dust and dirt is gone. I use the towel with almost zero pressure on the paint and am careful to never get in contact with the ground or tires as the towel may pick up contaminants. Paint that can be swirled by a clean microfiber towel would drive me crazy like on some exotic cars, not the towels fault that the paint is to soft or picked up contaminants that were then wiped across the soft paint. I would die if my paint was that weak and unable to protect from a microfiber.

I've used the Duragloss plush drying towels and various waffle weave towels like the Meguair's Water Magnet and Cobras that are sold here. I must be in the minority that prefers the waffle weave. Seems like the plusher towels I've used didn't absorb as well for some reason.

I do use a drying aid which may make a difference. I prefer Opti Seal as a drying aid but also use Meg's Synthetic Xpress Wax and Duragloss Aquawax as well.

Microfiber Madness's Dry Me Crazy is the best drying towel I've ever used.

By far.

It's like a sci-fi dream come true to watch that towel absorb water. Freaky.

How does this hold up compared to Pinnacle Spray Wax?

I have never used Pinnacle spray wax, but the Meguiar's is almost 1/3 the price which is a big plus. Also, it doesn't stain the trim, can be applied in direct sunlight and is an excellent well proven product from Meguiar's. I'm sure other people can chime in who use it and agree how good it is.

i have that towel, well one identical to it from chemical guys

its brand new in the package yet....i opened it up, felt the towel and thought it was too "stiff" to dry with. I thought for sure it will scratch my paint

maybe i should give it a try?

Ill try it out on some pretty hard paint first ......

Wash it first, I've been using these for quite awhile.

I'm curious.

Would you guys mind sending me a PM with a link to the magical drying towel everyone is talking about, but cannot be mentioned because of our forum rules? :)

Well Nick.... the softest one you'll find of course is the Duragloss plush towel. And you SELL that one! :dblthumb2: (When you can get them of course.) Those however are as cost prohibitive a towel that I can think of!

I've said for years now though that the foam core Cobra Guzzler is one of the best drying towels out there. Couple reasons for that one, mainly though is that it stays flat, and will absorb water well by just laying it on the surface and GENTLY patting/rubbing the back of it *without* rubbing the towel around on the surface(s).

Those other ones that folks like have "Dry Me" in the title (along with River or Crazy) although the first one IMHO is just WAAAY too rough. Not to mention the biggest one is HUGE, which can make it EXTREMELY heavy once it gets wet!!!!

The "crazy" one, is a CarPro towel. Might not get in trouble talking about that one, being as y'all sell CarPro. :dunno: It is a nice towel. Thing is... that one, and the Duragloss one, are basically the same thing. :props: Thing is... they are almost $25 for a 17x26 (or 25).

Notice... Autogeek sells CarPro and Duragloss. ;)

There is another heavyweight dual plush towel that some guys like, I *know* you Autogeek used to sell them, because I got 2 free. :D Don't think you still do though. :dunno: It's blue, sewn together, back-to-back construction, had 'whale' in the name. It only came in 16x16 and the threads themselves are more tightly packed together than the Duragloss unit. It's a 1100gsm towel. I honestly don't like it for drying because it's just TOO heavy to start with. Getting it wet and it'd weigh down like a sack of potatoes.

That's as far as I'll go here though mentioning where the other favorites could come from. Although there are a few others, all are Korean towels, one is a WW and comes in colors, and the others are split weave like the dual-plush units, generally a white towel. Just don't like putting a white towel on a vehicle to dry it. Something hurts my feelings there, thinking about a heavyweight, fairly expensive towel that's solid white that can end up getting soiled forever that I just can't bring myself to do. Rather I just whip out the blower and considering everything we have has a nice healthy LSP on it, it ends up taking just minutes to get them 98% dry! :D

Still like my old HD Guzzlers though for those times that I just MUST put a drying towel on paint. :dblthumb2:
