Favorite Holiday Traditions Giveaway

I really enjly just being able to relax and get together with all my family. We have several family members that we see once and year and it's normally good to see most of them. For a couple maybe once a year is enough, but it still seems good to get together with family. I also still have the day before Christmas shopping adventure. I normally wait till then to get gifts. It kind of makes it easier because you just have to buy them and don't really have time to think about it. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. Just remember the true reason for Christmas. We always make Christ the center part of our Christmas.

My Favorite Christmas tradition is

Our church has twelve trees set up outside the sanctuary. Each is for a different local charity and has ornaments which tell of things that the charity needs. These ornaments vary greatly in price (diapers for a adoption charity) to office machines, etc. We like to pick out a few from our favorite charities and deliver the item for their use. That puts me in the mood for what Christmas is all about.

Having two children in their twenties, the opportunities for all of us to have a meal together are rare. With a fire in the fireplace, "A Christmas Story" on the tube. my wife serves a unique dinner on Christmas Eve, consisting of all hors d'oeuvres. Bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, stuffed mushroom caps, shrimp, assorted dips and spreads etc. Just us-no guests until Christmas Day. Truly is "quality time" together.

I love shopping and spending as much time as I can with my family. I WOULD love if I got to detail more... Stupid winter

My grandfather and I get together every year to make a big batch of nuts and bolts. While they are cooking, we always have a good talk discussing cars, and all the good stuff that goes along with them.
I have been doing this tradition for as long as I can remember, and plan on doing it for as long as possible.

Oh I forgot one great tradition, but I see a few of you do it as well....
Christmas Story marathon, love it, always on Christmas Eve and I can watch that five times in a row and still laugh at it!

Have you ever watched the movie all of the way through? I always see about 10-30 minute segments of it. A classic.

My favorite is putting up the tree with the family while watching Christmas Vacation.

Yes I have watched that movie more times than I would want to admit! ;)

FOOD! I get to see familia I haven't seen all year and get to enjoy home cooked meals. My simple tradition is attempting to eat every plate my grandma hands me. I fail every single year. :)

Ha we definitely do this!!!

My favorite Christmas tradition is going to my grandmas house and eating lasagna with the family.

My wife and I go to K-mart in Carson, CA. and do the layaway pay off trick. The people are so cool there, they find lay-aways that are mostly toys, kids clothes, and stuff like that. Then we just pay up the tabs. It really is a lot of fun and it makes you feel good too. This is the 6th year we have done it.

That's a great thing to do, good on you

Our tradition over the past few years is that my wife buys us both a set of Christmas themed pajamas then she sends a picture of the two of us in front of the tree to our family members far a away... Cheesy, I know. This year she's got ginger bread people and I've got penguins.

Shh... Don't tell her I actually think it's a cute thing to do.

Our tradition is to decorate a little bit every week after thanksgiving until Christmas Eve. The kids love it because it maintains the spirit for them and is a constant reminder that Santa is coming. Last year though, it was very unfortunate that I was mobilized for deployment which meant I wouldn't be home for Christmas or to decorate for it either.

Luckily, my unit was allowed to return home from training for 4 days of pass for thanksgiving before returning to Camp Shelby MS to depart. So the morning after. So, with about 8 hours before I had to goto the airport to leave, I set up the Christmas tree, decorated inside the house, did my whole roof, set up 3 Santa blow ups, and made cookies! It's amazing how motivated you can become when you are left without a choice :)

From then on out, because I did it last year, this Black Friday, I decorated the entire home and made cookies. This will be my new tradition. The children seem to love the whole house going up at once and daddy is always happy to put a smile on their faces!

I have no idea who AG will pick, but I love your tradition. Thanks for sharing such a heart warming story.

My favorite holiday tradition is pretty simple. I just love having the opportunity to spent more time with family and really wish it could happen more often. Plus, every bakes delicious cookies and desserts.

It's become a tradition that I try out all my new detailing products on the cars of my family members after Christmas. I see it as a win win situation because I get to use their cars as test dummies instead of my own and they get a free detail as well.
