My GG6 is one of the last generation 2s. I got it when AG was blowing them out for $99 to make room for the generation 3s. Technically, the power specs for the 2 & 3s are the same. I guess I got a good one - because mine is a powerhouse.
However, after reading the book Poorly Made in China (not saying the GG6 is poorly made), I learned how Chinese manufacturers substitute all sorts of internal parts and mechanisms in their manufacturing process based on cost and availability if they think the can get away with it - and they usually can. I'm guessing even changing the supplier of the motor brushes could affect the power output somewhat.
The actual company slapping their name on the box is usually none the wiser. So, there may be unofficial differences in the machines that Griots may not even be aware of. That's just the nature of Chinese manufacturing. But, there likely is no way to confirm which is which, unless someone stripped down a unit they felt was lower powered along side a unit they felt was higher powered and did electrical tests and compared the internals.
There also is the concept that any mass manufactured engine or motor will vary in power just based on normal manufacturing variations in the components. This can be seen often when putting 2 identical brand new cars on a dyno. Two almost identical M3s can vary in RWHP by a fair amount.
