Ferrari Single Stage Paint

This is a '97 Ferrari Spyder 845 w/ single stage paint. Has some oxidation / hazing down the left side. The owner asked me to see if I could buff it out. (He said someone tried applying some wax by hand to remove it but the haze came back the next day.) I was working on another car at the time using Megs MF so I gave the left 1/4 a pass w/ it. Seemed to take care of it. Now the owner would like the rest of the car done.

Being that it is ssp & even though the 1/4 panel finished nice is the MF to aggressive for this?
Any suggestions, tips, warnings would be appreciated.

Both actually. Did 3-4 passes w/ each. Used medium to light pressure w/ cut & light pressure to machine weight w/ finish.
 
I'd take some PTG readings just to be safe but i'd assume you should be alright. Just don't know how many times its been polished in the past or if it has a history.
 
In my experience the MF system is aggressive and can haze Ferrari paint which runs on the soft side. Usually I use a light polish with a soft foam pad to get it perfect.

I would agree with Joe.

Microfiber pads are a great new addition to our arsenal of detailing tools but for finishing out to a show car finish in my opinion you still want to use a foam pad for your last step. My testing on black paint confirms my opinion even if only to me.

I would defiantly stay away from the MF system on the Ferrari I finished this one a couple of weeks a go and found that using the Megs pads on single stage paint the pads were clogging up much to fast meaning they were removing to much paint . I ended up using the LC CCS pads .Here's a picture of the car I did .

just an FYI, that looks to be a Ferrari 348 Spyder. They discontinued those in 1994 in favor the 355 line. I don't know who told you its a 1997 or an 845 because there was no such thing. just an FYI :)

I get to do one in a few weeks and I also red that standard LC pads are the easiest way to go with those types. good luck!

Yeah way off on the that. I was working on another car at the time & kind of listening. By the time I got home who knows what I remember. :)

What did you use for compound/polish?
