Few issues for beginner

The Warrior backing plate that comes with it (6") is wobbly, if thats a word. When you spin it, it wobbles. I put the LC 5" on mine, and it really works good. I think you have one also, correct? Was your Backing plate well made and straight running?

Give me a few minutes... I'll check it out after dinner.

Hey everyone, all awesome suggestions. Yes I do use a harbor freight da and using lake country 6in pads(orange, white, black and blue). I'm going to exchange my 6in backing plate with a 5in. Also my backing plate that came with the harbor freight spun straight but was told that they will eventually rip apart the pad or the Velcro won't work as good. I did use the pads and backing plate on my boat and it came out great but it was only oxidation that I had to remove. Which honestly I was surprised how great it came out. I also went to Home Depot and picked up some meguiars ultimate compound. Now all I need to get is the 5inch pads and some microfiber rags(good ones for removing polish). I'm going to practice on either a panel I can get from my local junk yard or on my trunk. I like the process of detailing as it's very theurputic to me and I like the challenge of learning new trades. Thank you guys for all the help and I hoped I answered all the questions.

It can't hurt to try the Ultimate Compound with your current setup 1st.

All good advise above!

Like Rippy said---Are your pads spinning?
And

How many section passes are you doing?
What was speed you used on polisher?
And how fast were you moving the polisher?

That plate only rips up the HF pads, due to mis matched size. Otherwise it will work fine with LC, B&S, Megs, etc pads. To be more specific, the hook material is very similar to what is found on Buff and Shine plates, where Meguiar's, and Lake Country feature "micro hooks" on their plates.
