I've been trying out different wash methods for the past several months ever since I bought my first really nice car. I started out with the basic two bucket method, and while it works it definitely takes the most preparation especially if you add a foam gun at the beginning. I moved on to rinseless and waterless washes. I don't let my cars get very dirty so waterless washes every few days worked well, and a rinseless on the weekend to be more thorough did the trick. I did it that way for a while, but I really got tired of all of the laundry from the GDWM technique on the rinseless washes.
More recently I've moved on to the wash method in question: Foam Gun + Bucket Wash Method (FGBWM). I use just a foam gun (with 1/2 gallon bottle) and a rinse bucket with a grit guard and washboard in it. I use half of the foam to pre-rinse, then the second half in combination with a wash pad to wash the car. I found that having a bucket of soap really didn't add much and just made it more complicated. Right now, I still towel dry, but I'm hoping to get a Master Blaster Revolution soon that would eliminate that. I might even add a bit of detail spray or spray wax at the end for grins.
With all of that in place, I have very little setup time (foam gun prep and rinse bucket), almost no laundry (just a wash pad and maybe one towel for detail spray), and it's almost as quick as a rinseless wash (faster actually if you count the time doing laundry afterward). Plus, it seems like a safer wash than rinseless as well. So I guess I'll use this method until I find the next best thing. Does anyone else do it this way?
