First, let me say that I LOVE TORNADO RED! Hides dirt so well!

There now that that's out of the system, I took a few before and after pics. As I said above it was kinda hard to see the dirt so I really got in there with the lens so hopefully those pictures turn out. Didn't get to clean the wheels well as I ran out of cleaner after the first wheel. And my stamina ran out so the interior comes monday.

Does anyone know what the hell this is, sometimes its this shape or similar other times the crap is just little dots that show up on the paint.

Ludacris post I know, but this is the first time I put pics up so I'm rather excited ;)

Pictures are always welcome. What was your method? Just a wash, wash-n-wax, wash and polish? Fill us in! :hungry: Car looks great though! :xyxthumbs:

I guess I forgot the details

Products used:
GG Car Wash Solution
GG Paint Cleaning Clay
GG Speed Shine
GG Best in Show Wax
GG Spray Wax
Cobra MF (misc, guzzler, indigo etc)
Stoner Invisible Glass

Misc Items:
Craftsman air compressor (the new GTI SWALLOWS water in the doors and mirror housings)

2 5-gal buckets with grit-guards
2 MF mitts from GG (I dropped one)
Boars Hair brush on wand for the lowers.

I live real close to the GG headquarters and wanted to give their products a run. The car wash was pretty good, still like my pinnacle and wolfgang. Clay and QD were very nice with a pleasant scent. Best in show wax, for being only one coat gives quite a nice wet look and was very easy to put on and come off of the paint. For the few times I missed a spot of wax when buffing, the spray wax did the trick really quick. Smells like banana's, delicious. Everything was done by hand, I dropped my PC and no longer works. I feel like Arnold right now my arms feel like I just did 200 push-ups :D

Cool. What's your opinion about Griot's Garage products?

^^ I edited the post probably while you were posting sorry forgot that too. I need a sandwich and a nap.

NICE! I have a Tornado Red MKVI also. AND I'll be using the Griot's products it soon. It's nice to see how it's gonna turn out.

I get those orange/yellow greasy spots on my hood. I have no clue what it is.

That's odd, I thought all cars were female?!

To the best of my knowledge it is honey bee excrement. Read all about it here.

Honey Bee Excrement

I live in SoCal and it shows up on all my cars. Particularly if they are parked outdoors often.

And you thought detailing was easy huh? LOL

When you spend several hours detailing a car you work hard, there's no way around it. Keeping fuel in the furnace will help keep you going!

Great job on the car and nice photos too!

Now I never said I thought it was easy ;)

Hard work is good work I always say.

Great job - Really looks nice and if you did that all by hand WOW!

VERY Interesting!!!

For the first time in my life, today I saw something like this on my car. It had a hexagon shape to it!!!

Never knew bees excrete hexagonally...

Yeah was all by hand. Wanted to do 2 coats of wax but after the first my shoulders told me not too! LOL.

Thanks to everyone for the kind remarks!

I've been noticing these lines/spots on my car to recently. Hard little boogers to get off too!

Nice ride man. Lookin' good, i've been kind of considering trying to get a GTI soon.

I will tell you footwork, as I see that you are driving a subie, that I was considering a new WRX so badly. I decided to swing in to VW knowing that they were far more underpowered and didn't have the AWD. All of my previous cars (un-sporty I will say) were Sub's and the GTI took all of about 2 minutes in the interior while cruising down the freeway on the test to win me over.

While it won't be as fast or have the added traction of an AWD set-up, this thing GRIPS. According to car-driver it pulls a .9g on the skid. Take a test drive. The amenities, and quality are something to behold.

Funny, I went the other direction. I currently drive a 2008 Subaru STi and before that I had a 2003 GTI 20th Anniversary (6MT w/ 1.8T). After mods the GTI had roughly 210 WHP and a complete suspension makeover, it was buckets of fun. No question the fit and finnish on VAG automobiles is second to none, the materials and workmanship were all first class. Also, from time to time I do miss the go kart like excitement you get from whipping a car around by the front wheels.

However, my STi is a totally different animal, the interror materials are cheap and japanese but man does it have gobs of power. The GTI had fun bursts of power and speed but the STi just pours it on and keeps going. The handling is way more planted than the VW and inspires confidence at high speed on the road and on the track.

So having lived with both of these every different cars, I love them both. Here is how I see the difference, if fast punchy city driving is the goal the the GTI is the weapon of choice but if it's balls out backcountry roads, highway and track time I'm grabbing for the subie keys.

:D

I agree Metajames, I have driven the STi ('04 '07 and '09) and they are fantastically brilliant aside from the interior.

But lets call a spade a spade, the GTI and the STi are two very different machines. For what the GTI is, its got to be one of the best handling FWD cars there is, well to my knowledge anyway. I also didn't have the extra 10 grand to go with the STi. :)
