I finally picked up an extractor. I went with the Mytee HP60 Spyder. Just wondering about some tips and tricks to using it. I know to use defoamer and bought system maintainer to run through it, but I'm excited about cleaning nasty interiors now that Folex and my VX5000 couldn't quite handle well enough. What are your go to products to pretreat carpet and upholstery prior to extracting? Any and all advice is very much appreciated!

I also purchased the HP Dry kit for faster drying time and also blowing out cracks after washing. Any experience with this kit? It's on backorder at Autogeek but I should be getting it soon. Pretty stoked! Feel like I made a good purchase. Thoughts?

Haven't used it on any bad interiors yet. :(

Preatreat: strong degreaser where neded, or apc for elsewhere; Folex, Genesis 950 (can spray on any surface) does not need rinsed; DrySlurry (this is the best of the best)
If you want economical and effective, zeps sells carpet cleaning solution for 10bucks a gallon at HomeDe. they keep it by the household cleaning supplies. It can be dilluted too. You could use it too for a presprayer.

Yeah I've heard about that. Fingers crossed i guess.

Here's what I think I know. After we vacuum and blow everything out, we spot treat areas that look like they might put up a fight. For regular food type stuff we use a little APC 10:1 for coffee/tea a dedicated tannin remover, for petroleum based a tar and grease remover. We let these cleaners dwell while we do the "wet work" on the interior. Then we try to extract them. After we get the spot cleaning done, we apply a neutral carpet and upholstery shampoo to the whole area, scrub with a rotary shampooer and extract. In one direction of course, slowly and systematically. In the corners where extractor will not fit, we towel and blow and use a crevice tool. We do the seat last since no one wants to sit on a wet seat. Sometimes on a narrow spot, we use our hand or a towel to close off leaks and control spray. It gets hot of course. Sometimes we need to stick the hose in first so the head faces back toward us to get tight spots. Low foaming products mean less time dumping. I feel extractors are a must, well done.

I have been kicking around the idea of getting one too, but I just don't use them enough to stomach the purchase...although I have done some cars where I really wished I had one!
