fine headlight swirls....

basically, the car is under a year old and had just a few light scratches on the headlights so i thought i would clean them up with the 3" gg w/orange pad with wg fg 3.0

however, after polishing a bit and inspecting, i think i put these fine swirls in the plastic (maybe i didnt polish long enough or i need a finer polish?)... i dont want to wetsand or anything like that to remove them

can i use my 3"gg or my flex 3401 and get rid of these? i have a few different pads and wg tsr 3.0 and wg fg

or will i just make the swirls worse and should i leave it alone will it needs a wetsand?

Do you have a buffer or a backing plate that attaches to a drill? If so you can try a compound. If that doesn't work..you can wet sand and then compound. Then use a product like Opti lens to seal.

Missed your second post. Try using WTSR, Final Glaze may not have been strong enough.

thx.... i am pretty sure the swirls were not there when i started to so i was hoping a combo of tsr/fg would get rid of them

What orange pad are you using? Is it the GG pad? Or an LC? You might want to try a white pad if you are using LC, it may be the pad was a bit coarse, I would think the FG would have done the trick for you.

good call... i did use the orange pad on the gg 3" thought it would be ok, obviously it was a bit coarse

do you think i can get it out with the flex 3401 w/ white pad with either tsr or fg?

It's hard to say from the picture, and not knowing if it's in the hard coating or not, etc. I am pretty sure that you will be able to get it out with a Flex...start with the FG if that doesn't do it go with the TSR.

I can't tell you if the orange pad was too coarse, it was just an idea. You didn't answer if the pad was a GG pad or the LC pad...I think the GG orange are more like the LC tangerine hydro which might finish out better than the regular orange.

Whatever the problem, I can't see you being unable to fix it with a Flex and TSR/FG.

You shouldn't need to wetsand and I would highly advise against it with the car being under a year old. TSR should get it. I would run it with an orange and white pad since it's a versatile polish.
