I find that it has a much "softer" look to it than FK1000 High Temp wax, and has a life of 3-5 months. It provides a filling ability that is more pronounced with each successive coat (i stop at two coats with a few days + car wash in between).
Yes, it does smell like old school "real" waxes. I don't mind this as much and application/removal is extremely easy. If you thicken up the application it is still relatively easy to remove but not as simple as a full synth which it is not. Keep it thin as you should and it will remove very easily.
Looks are always subjective, but I was always fond of this wax on my black car. The filling abilities are nice and middle of the road (don't expect magic, but it won't exacerbate swirls like some very synthetic plastic reflective shiny waxes will). I would imagine that it *may* mute metallic flakes, but I have never tried it on such finishes. I only use this wax in the summer and found it to last very well with two coats (about 3 months), with weekly washes and amped up with Finish Kare's own 425 detail spray after drying.
I like it because the price is right, shipping was always dirt cheap from FK and it was easy to work with like most FK products. I believe the FKusa site is down, but I think other suppliers now have it available.
There were many supporters of this product 5+ years ago on Autopia if you want to search (I'm new, am I allowed to mention other detailing sites on here? If not I will remove this last line)
