First Car, What to Use, No Swirls

I bought a Flex 3401 to do my first project. It was a 37' camper. Thank you all for your posts as I got good at it and using Poor Boys Master Cut and Klasse AIO. Master Cut suggested a rotary but the DA did a great job and I was doing it an hour or two at a time after work over the past couple of weeks. It took my 2006 5th wheel from really nice inside and industrial looking outside to looking like brand spanking new.

And Mike Phillip's videos and book were invaluable. A friend gave me a taste doing a section on my camper so I was hooked but although he is on this forum, he doesn't live near me so I was on my own with this forum to help.

I bought a lot of pads initially so I am all set with that. But now I want to do my car and I don't have any product to do it. It is a 2011 BMW 328i in Gray Color. It badly needs to be clayed and I figured out what I need to buy. But, no matter the light or bright sun I don't see any swirls so I don't see any reason to try to fix what isn't broken.

After I clay it what do I do next? Just polish/wax with an AIO like the Klasse I used on my RV? I am more than happy to buy more Poor Boy's products. Please suggest what steps I take and buy as something like SSR1 seems unnecessary as I can't see any. But, maybe I should be using that anyway as an initial step before waxing.
 
If the car is really in that good of condition, then using KAIO after claying and KSG after that should be fine

Thanks. But I am a bit too new to this to know what "KSG" stands for. I don't know why the paint doesn't show swirls after 3 years, but it does look good after I wash it and dry it without anything else. And if it looks good to me then the average drive through car wash person probably thinks it looks new.

I spent about $600 so far to get initial stuff to do the RV, and of course most of that carries over to the cars (I bought a lot of pads), and as you can see in the pictures, I got $5,000 worth of happiness. You can see the front cap in the first picture and I had not done that yet. What a huge difference!
 
Ok. I just looked up the Sealant Glaze. Maybe I should put that on the RV as well? I found the compounding polishing was a ton of work as it is all vertical and I forced myself to do full section passes without cheapening out. But, the Klasse AIO was a ton easier so I imagine doing the whole thing again with Sealant Glaze wouldn't take too long. Plus my kids can help. I found my kids were helpful with what we called "wax off", but they couldn't get the compound off (or pretended they couldn't get it so they wouldn't have to).
 
While being an excellent sealant (IMHO) the Klasse Sealant Glaze DOES have a bit of a steep learning curve and it took me a while to pick it up, so if you have another LSP (last step product -wax/sealant) already I would suggest using that since the KSG can be a bit finicky especially on removal.

That being said, I think once you get the hang of KSG, you'll love the look/durability. I'm sure that there are others who will have other suggestions for a last step that will work just as well or better than the Klasse. It's your choice. Good luck and enjoy your results.


PS I can't believe I'm telling someone that Klasse may not be the best choice since I've become a convert ever since I figured out its eccentricities.
 
Thanks. I don't have any other products yet. I only bought a Flex 3401, a lot of pads, cleaner and conditioner, lots of towels, the Poor Boys Master Cut, and the Klasse AIO. Plus some cleaning stuff. I don't mind the learning curve. Plus, if I try it out on the RV that is a lot of real estate to learn on. Any products for the car (as opposed to the RV), I don't have yet.
 
KLASSE ACT will probably be the one to ask, but I have found that using a small misting bottle (about 1 - 2 oz size) available at most Walgreen / Rite Aid drug stores are best for application.

I use a simple foam pad for application (by hand) Machine application just wastes product. Two spritzes to the applicator and apply it THIN. I apply it to the whole car (I have a small car) and then remove it with a slightly damp microfiber cloth - being slightly moist seems to give the mf a bit more bite when it comes to removing the KSG, which you will come to appreciate. Once you remove the KSG, leave the paint alone for 8 -12 hours for the KSG to cure before adding another coat, I usually wait overnight. I've also been told to use Meg's Ultimate Quick Detailer (with ~1/2 oz of KSG added to the bottle) as my quick detailer. I have yet to try this though as my car has been in the shop getting an engine transplant for the last month.
 
Thanks. I just read a similar approach on the KLASSE product page. I have 3 cars so if you were closer you could take out your frustration of lack of a car detailing them. Granted, they are work truck and minivan so not that exciting.
