First day at work not good

So as some of you know I started a new Job today. I get there at 7:30 and find out that there is no power. We had a major storm over night and the entire industrial park is out of power.

The owner calls electric company and is told we may have power by 8;00 pm. The owner sent us all home. So first day is a paid day off. That is a first for me...

Seems like a great start to me. Boss did the right thing and paid you even though you couldn't work, and you have a job that you showed up to.
