Hello all! I'm new here. Just thought I would show off the results of my first detail from my box o' goodies that I just received from Autogeek last weekend. This is actually a partial detail. I've got an 18 month old, so time is a little harder to come by these days. I need to finish cleaning the interior, engine, and a few minor exterior details. I didn't go all out on this car because I have a new daily driver, so this one will be sold before long and didn't feel it was worth the time. I just wanted to learn to use the PC and make the car look better. I think it came out 100% better, with about 75% of the swirls removed. It still has a lot of random scratches from 9 years of highway driving. It's hard to tell looking at before and after pictures, but in person I can definitely see a difference, with the color being much darker.

Particulars:
1996 Olds Cutlass
Washed-Megs Deep Crystal
Clayed
OHC via Orange Wolfgang pad
EX-P via Gray pad, then again by hand
one pass with Nattys Blue

I only have one decent before picture since I just have a crappy 2.1 MP camera, so it's hard to see a difference. But I think this one compared to the other after hood shot shows how blah the paint looked.

It looks much much better! Great job! So how did you like using your PC?? Are you hooked yet. :p
 
Wow was it work! When I first started parusing boards and saw people were spending 8-10 hours detailing cars I couldn't believe it would take that long. Then I spent probably 3 hours just doing the OHC, I realized it wasn't a quick process. My back isn't so great, so I got a bit sore, but seeing and feeling that slick surface was worth it. And it was so much easier than polishing by hand. I'm excited to get to work on my new daily driver. It's only 3 years old with great paint, so I'm hoping it will look like a million bucks when it's done.
 
Welcome to AG. Your Olds looks great, when you can, go ahead and finish the detail. You can make more money that way!
 
Psshhh, you guys complaining about cars, come do a couple of our suv's for me:D

Gotta love the Natty's Blue, looks great.

thanks for the encouragement. I do plan to finish the rest of the detail. I just want to move on to the other daily drivers before snow flies.
 
Looks great man... as much as its nice to look at the 'stangs, and vettes detailed, I really enjoy looking at the regular sedans... they are the ones that get the abuse, usually dont see the garage, and get driven like crazy with kids, etc.....
