I have a few questions about applying OptiCoat 2.0. Some of you may have seen a thread I posted looking for an Opti Coat Pro installer, but I decided to put my man pants on and try using OC myself.

The car is a silver Prius. My questions are -

1) I used around 8-9 CC of OC only, doing all painted surfaces, headlights, tail lights. Is it normal to get two mid size sedan applications from one 20cc syringe?

2) after it fully cures I'll test the beading and what not, but I'm concerned in spots I may have knocked it down before enough product cured on the surface. What is the minimum time one should wait before knocking down high spots?

From what I've seen, 2 cars per tube is pretty average. Some get three, and I've even seen some guys bragging about only using 3ccs or so on a car. I'd be skeptical of good coverage at that point. The stuff isn't cheap, but it isn't expensive enough to justify cutting corners like that. I'd say 2 cars per tube, 3 if its all small cars, is perfect.

For high spots, you want to wait about 5 minutes for it to flash. Make sure you aren't wiping the whole panel, just the high spot. I also like to blow on the high spot before wiping. Sometimes it isn't really just a high spot and just hasn't flashed yet. The blowing makes it flash right away unless its truly a high spot.

If you used that much on a Prius, you should be fine quantity wise but no one can tell you whether you wiped off OC or not. Btw, the OC you purchased is not what we pro installers use. With time you will find out how you did for your first time. At least you have enough left to redo it if needed.

Ps: reply to your question - according to directions you want to wait for about 5 minutes - however, temperature and humidity plays a big role. Don't worry too much it was your first time
