first grass cutting

Ya I hate cutting grass I'm putting in fake grass this summer.

It was snowing here on Friday again. I don't mind mowing at the farm with the big mower but could care less about my lawn at home. Fortuneatley last summer it never grew and this summer they are tearing my front yard up to redo the road and put in curb/gutter.

Not an issue up here...25 degrees this morning. No bugs either.

Wow..first cut ?? I have cut my grass already for the past 3 weeks. It's growing like mad. I actually cut it on Wednesday and had to recut on Saturday.

I don't really get this grass thing. The wife has me turn on the sprinkler system so we can pay for the water to grow it , then I can maintain the grass by paying to mow it. Doesn't really make sense to me, it's a Desert after all.

I started the regimen last week. Usually I fertilize monthly beginning in February through June. By late April I need to mow 2x per week. I changed-up this year, just fertilized for the first time last week and I cut/thatched on the first setting of my mower. In one week I have a good amount of growth in-line with my expectations. I figure in 2 weeks the weekly mowing cycle will begin. That gives me enough time to focus on the pool opening and power washing. And of course with the power washer I can sa'che over to a vehicle for a quick foam wash. :-)

I enjoy cutting grass.

My back yard when I bought the house, mostly weeds:

After two summers of work:

very nice work JDgolden Just don't hit a birdie on the fairway and mind the dip to the left as you putt.

JD please tell how you did that. I envy grass like that

Well pretty much Scott's weed and feed in spring, mid summer, and end of fall. I also ran the irrigation a lot, and kept the grass length a little longer. I also picked up any items in the yard (like twigs, leaves etc) multiple times per week. Gotta make sure that all of the leaves are picked up in the fall, as it will kill your grass. The trees in my area require about 2-3 hours per week of clearing, and that lasts about 6 weeks. I think last fall I took 25 tarp loads of leaves to the curb to be sucked up. That's about it.

Thanks for all of the compliments!

Oh, and it was slightly overcast and I took that picture about 10 minutes after cutting it. The striping kind of faded after a few days.

Is grass that green stuff under the white stuff?

I haven't even seen the top of my fence January!

This time of year, the sound of a Briggs & Stratton should be on a lawn mower, NOT the snow blower!

I am so wanting SPRING, not 'sprinter'.

I'd rather mow grass than blow snow.

Yeah, the neighbor says my lawn tractor is shinier than his car (and it is).
