Alright guys, I'm doing my first paint correction on Thursday. The car is a dark maroon Special Edition Grand Prix. When it was new this was no doubt a great looking car, but it's been let go for a long time. It's a freebie for the guy who owns the car in exchange for a guinea pig no liability job for me, plus (hopefully) some useful before and after pictures. Wish me luck!

at least ask him to buy you lunch man. doing a correction for free is brutal. its alot of hard physical work. just prepping it for the correction is a lot of work in itself. you'll see what i mean after you are done.

I agree, yet it better not be fast food...materials add up fast!

Ahh, it was worth it. I got a lot of good before and afters that will hopefully help sell the service, and I get to try a few different things without worrying about it too much. And, everyone knows how bad this guys car looked, so when it gets seen all shined up it's a rolling testimony of my work.

It's done, check out the link for some pictures! I know everyone prefers to have them posted here, but I'm doing this from my phone. I took a lot of advice here and went with "least aggressive approach first" since this was my first shot at this, and went with all Meguiars Ultimate. It came out better than I could have imagined. I've got some 105, 205, and 26 on order now to step it up a little.

How did you like 105 and 205?? Which Meg's ultimate polishes did you use?

I haven't gotten the 105 and 205 yet, but i was super impressed with the Ultimate Compound. It was easy to use, and did a great job. Aside from being pretty dusty, no complaints. The polish on the other hand, not sure about yet. I'm gonna have to try it a little more before I have an opinion to share. The Liquid Wax leaves a great shine, but isn't the easiest to take off. Definitely need to work in sections with that one.

I'm trying the ultimate twins before 105/205 because from reading they seem like good beginner polishes.
