You usually involve
Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze is a final step auto glaze to enhanced the gloss prior to wax application. Get a show car shine with Meguiars #7 Show Car in your single stage paint projects. Is there any particular reason that Meg's #7 wasn't included at some point in this project?
You sort of fooled me on this one because I was expecting #7 to be used at some point in the process, usually the first step after washing, inspecting, and claying. Right?
Just to document... we did the #7 rub down here,
1998 Isuzu Rodeo Extreme Makeover! - Single Stage Paint
And here, and to my knowledge this #7 Rub down of the 1967 Continental is the first time the topic of how to restore antique paint using a real antique car has ever been taught in a formal detailing class.
Rupes Bigfoot Polishers Detailing Class & Extreme Paint Restoration
So there is a time and a place for doing the #7 rub down, this wasn't it however.
You ask a great question Bill and the reason we didn't do the #7 rub down first is because it would have been for nothing since we were going to be "chopping" hard on this paint using one of the most aggressive quality compounds on the market with the most aggressive application process that is a rotary buffer with a wool pad.
The compounding process would have simply removed any paint penetrated by the oils in the #7
This was a "last chance to dance" type of buff-out.
Good question.
Was M105 a consideration versus M100? Can you explain some of the differences in the two that made you settle on using M100? I've yet to try M100 or M101 yet.
I'm typing from my lap top at home and not at work with my "arm holder uppers" so I don't type well or fast on a lap top keyboard so my answers will be short.
First, we have a video here on this forum with a Round Table Discussion" between myself, Mike Pennington, Jason Rose and Steve Coronado that discusses the differences. If you watch the video you'll here my comments about M100

Suffice to say... we chose to make this a "Meguiar's" project, thus using all Meguiar's products. Out of the options, M100 Pro Speed Compound is specifically made for WOOL PADS on ROTARY BUFFERS and I like it's play time, cutting ability and its ability to finish out like a polish and it worked great for "chopping" on this neglected old paint.
