Actually, this is my second post. I threadjacked over in the OT forum on a similar 'critique this order' but no one responded, so I thought I'd try again here on my own thread :)

Just took delivery a week ago of a new Acura TL Type S, black on black/silver interior. Great looking car, so it deserves the best treatment.

Decided to take advantage of the great 15% memorial day sale and placed a large order yesterday. Needed to get new pads for my Porter Cable and wanted to try some new products. How'd I do?

That's quite an order and some very nice stuff. My wife would kill me if I purchased all that stuff at once. Well kills a strong word but she would at least have an attitude.

I think you have all of the bases covered, seems like someone has been doing their homework A+. I would suggest that you may want another polishing pad, I think you'll find that you'll be reaching for a polishing pad more than any other pad. IMO you can never have too many pads or microfibers... But all in all, you have a great list and are well on your way.

Hopefully someone can chime in! You got a lot on your list, so far so good but I'm not experienced with the porter cable stuff yet :)

I believe it! I have enough married friends to have seen what that's like. Trying to strike a fine balance between wise savings and buying all of the gadgets/toys that I can before marriage!

Thanks for the feedback guys...I'm hoping to finally learn how to excel with my Porter Cable and try out these new (to me) products.

sounds like a super order, all you need is some souv. paste and your set.

Yeah.....I was really debating that one....my thoughts are that I'll start with the Klasse with the liquid souv. layered on top. Then, maybe in the late summer/fall I'll experience the paste. Maybe I should have sprung for it now but I didn't want to hit the $600 mark yesterday!

Any application recommendations for the Poorboy's SSR series, Klasse and then wax? I fortunately don't have any swirls but there are a few slight scratches I want to address. This is relatively new paint (about 500 miles) so I want to take it easy for now (e.g., no clay yet).

I would still clay the car, you would be amazed the amount of sediment that settles on a car during transports and what not. You could always go ahead with a fine clay like the pinn. ultra poly clay.

100% agree with above post, new cars might have rail dust from transport, ect...you'd be surprised. Use a mild clay, you'll thank us later!

Pete

DEFINITELY clay the car first! And damn, that's one helluva order!

That will be one big box from UPS!
I would consider upgrading your polishes to Menzerna, but the SSRs will work.

Shoot, now I have to order CLAY!!!! Maybe I'll just get something locally so as not to hold-up my detailing session this weekend.
Thanks for all the feedback, guys - appreciate it. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Got the order.....now need some clay

Well, I finally got my goodies from AG (see attached pic of my dining room table!). Seeing how the weather was less than ideal this weekend, I'm going to postpone detailing until next weekend. Before then, I want to pick up some clay as you guys recommended....I'm leaning towards the ultra poly clay as its a new car - but am open to suggestions. Should I buy the kit or do I have something in the above list that I can use as a lubricant? (and I have PLENTY of microfibres right now!). I was actually amazed at how well the rejuvenator solution cleaned the towels. I soaked some especially dirty ones (from brake dust) in a solution of oxy clean which worked great also - anyone try that?
